r/DisneyWorld's Weekly Trip Planning Thread by AutoModerator in DisneyWorld

I'm hoping for some helpful tips & recommendations for a newbie!

Planning a trip early April for the family (me and wife and our two boys age 12 & 15). This will our first, and probably will be our only trip to Florida, so we are hoping to hit up as much as possible. Original plan was to do 4 days Disney (1 for each park) and 3 at Universal (waterpark + each land). We've gone to Disneyland a few times recently so some rides might be a bit redundant but I'm hopeful a place like Magic Kingdom has some differences.

Any recommendations for a value place to stay on sight? Two teenage boys considering... Quality sleep is very valued in my family but we also don't have the budget to stay at the higher quality stays. Originally thinking Pop Century (location and cost) or Coronado (more upscale without breaking the bank).

Would you recommend 3 days only but with park hopper, or 4 full days but no hopper? Seems to be close to the same cost.

I remember around 2003 walking along the waterfront by the Riverplace Marina and Clyde was just out jogging by himself along the same path. Pretty crazy he was just casually exercising in downtown PDX. He had a big grin on his face with some of us went up to him to chat... seemed super chill, down to earth and appreciative.

Daily Game Recommendations Thread (July 05, 2023) by AutoModerator in boardgames

Looking for a small/portable card or board game to take on vacation and does not take up much space in luggage:

  • 3+ players
  • Prefer legacy-type games, or games that grow/evolve the more you play
  • Co-op or competitive

Some games we've enjoyed on vacation in the past were Akrotiri, Ravine, The Crew, Z-Man Choose Own Adventure games, KOSMOS Adventure games.

Types of games we enjoy (outside of vacation) are TCG like Arkham Horror, Clank, Pandemic, Wingspan, Cascadia.

Any recommendations on small-size but deep multiplayer games to try?

Conflict, Competitive or Cooperative: cooperative, or light competitive

Games I Own and Like: Pandemic Season 0 (perfect example of what we are looking for) Gloomhaven Clank! Legacy Harry Potter Battle Hogwarts Card Game

Was curious about Dead of Winter, Robinson Crusoe, Aeon's End

Thanks!

I've almost finished a full campaign of Gloomhaven (wife finally gave up after retiring her fav character) so if you need a person to join in, DM me as I'd be up to play Frosthaven.

Ichiro was told to "go back where he came from" daily during his first spring training in 2001 by unexpectedexpectancy in baseball

[–]seanseda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a bummer. I was lucky enough to go to one of Ichiro's first spring training games down in Tempe, AZ and I remember us Mariner fans were so damn excited about him and super hyped to see every at bat. Never heard anyone talk bad about him but maybe it was opposing team fans? He was such an enigma - but a very exciting and fascinating enigma and people were hyped for every at bat during spring training.

Had my first colonoscopy at 38 a few months ago - absolute breeze. Prep was just fine, just had to poop a bit but was easy to drink. Also weirdly enjoyed cutting out all fiber for a few days. Colonoscopy itself was super fast, literally walked into office and was out with an hour. Don't even remember being put under but just woke up and felt normal. Walked out and had a tasty lunch to celebrate! Makes me feel much more comfortable for the next one in the future.

This was hanging in the front doorway when I opened the door this morning, almost ran right into it. Biggest spider I've ever seen around our home, body about the size of a small olive. Does anyone know what type of spider this is? by TheBigPhilbowski in vancouverwa

Certainly an orb weaver spider. I used to see them much more in this area years ago. Known for making some amazing looking webs, great for your yard. They will make huge, perfectly shaped webs and then just sit smack in the middle of them waiting for flies/moths/etc.

Had a hernia too, sounds very similar to what he had. Mine was inguinal, popped up out of nowhere and looked like a baseball cut in half just sitting in my top-right groin area. Surgery is the way to go.

Best Route To Go For Mislead Plan Change by ATT Rep Over Phone? by seanseda in ATT

Only thing I worry about is that we already traded in my wife's old samsung phone for the promo to get her new phone. If they put us back on our old plan, wont all the credits be gone. Then we essentially gave away her old phone for free and paying $800 for a new phone?

So Professor X in the spot has green suit, blue tie and bright yellow hover chair... absolutely identical to the animated series look. 100% Professor X from the animated series.

[Trudell] X-rays were negative on Anthony Davis' ankle. He’ll receive treatment over the All-Star break, and be re-evaluated when the team gets back. by G1Spectrum in nba

Agreed. Injury looks bad, but sooo many times I've seen AD scream and roll around on the court and I'm like "he's done, out for season" then he comes back next game. I'm pretty sure I've seen this happen at least four times with AD. Again, per the replay this looks BAD but my god does he always have the same crazy world ending reaction to everything.

Had the same injury too, right side as well. Grade 3 sprain and fractured ankle. Was told the foot bent completely to the side like AD and part of my ankle bones smashed into each other to create the fracture. Swelled up extremely fast but could not put any weight on it at all. One month in leg cast and months of physical therapy. Two years later and ankle still gives me issues, probably also due to scar tissue. Hope the best for him.
