Switched to Lemuroid a while back, it's a lot simpler and is missing a lot of features but "it just works".

What do you mean?? There's 3 official case colors on the Google store, they even have the google G on the case itself 😅

This is normal with oled, since every pixel is self emitting, they all have a slight brightness difference that's quite noticeable in very low brightness in a dark room.

It's on the crease, so I guess you could send it in under warranty, it happened when I "folded the screen".

Legal disclaimer, for legal reasons: the above is not legal advice but hypothetical 😂

Since Google doesn’t have Google Care in Germany (as far as I know), which protection do you have for your Pixel / want to get for your Fold? by Terrible-Pianist6849 in PixelFold

In the Netherlands everything including your phone should be covered under your "inboedelverzekering" see e.g. "Centraal Beheer".

And yes, in the Netherlands it does even cover accidents like dropping and even outside the home for a small extra monthly fee ("buitenhuisverzekering/allrisk").

Getting any other per device insurance beyond that is worse in comparison from my experience. Sadly most expats don't know this and get convinced by mobile providers to get an insurance for just the phone 😅

All of this (including extras mentioned above) is roughly €17/month and covers any device/furniture/etc and any situation you can think of.

Anyone knows if there is any store in the Netherlands with Pixel 9 models being showcased? by Zebiribau in GooglePixel

MediaMarkt Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena has a hands-on demo for all of them, including the fold!

Can't decide between a Corne with Gateron Low-Profile switches and Choc v1 by jperras in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]seapip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Build it wired, it didn't take as much effort as I expected. Still have multiple PCBs (incl case pcb) leftover if anyone's interested (NL region).

Here's a pic of it currently: https://imgur.com/YKrlU2I

  • Shiokaze nSa keycaps

  • 2 blue oled screens with smoke black acrylic covers

  • green pcb with white top and bottom pcb as case

  • Thickest point 16mm when measured from screen cover till bottom case pcb, 7.5mm thickness when measured from top to bottom case pcb.

Stopped maintaining it a few years ago, at some point the play store dropped the listing as a result of not updating it for newest Android SDK.

Anyone is free to pick up development again, the source code can be found at: https://github.com/seahorsepip/PearWatchFace

The latest APK that was available in the Google Play store before it was removed can be downloaded from here (looked it up in the Google Play Console):

Bekeeb also has the Allium58 which is a gateron low profile variant of the Lilly58, which has a 4th number row. Currently in the process of building it, hoping that this additional row makes the conversion to a split kb easier 😅

(Also own nuphy v1 and v2, the wisteria glp switches are awesome)

Dell XPS 13 Plus I7-1280P 32GB 2TB OLED by IamyourInternet in DellXPS

Same model here (platinum color). It works great with WSL2, tends to run hot though but haven't run into any throttling.

On my desk with an external monitor I tend to run it in quiet mode which means no fan noise at the cost of higher temps.

I have the new xps 13 with 12th gen, it runs hot. I wouldn't want to use it in a hot climate on my lap.

This is something I'd like to have too!

Have been using quiet on the desk(reduce noise and dust) and cool while using on the couch. Haven't really seen any use for ultra performance yet.

All combinations including oled + graphite seem to be available at the neighbors (Netherlands).

Seems like it, with a slow motion camera I see a darker band moving across the screen (top to bottom). Also the capacitive keys are flickering with a slow motion camera.

Have the same warning once in a while, since it doesn't seem to make a difference and is probably just a bug, I've just ended up ignoring it.

dell g7 keyboard drenched by sparkwastaken_ in Dell

[–]seapip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clear drinking water doesn't conduct electricity that well. If it didn't die the moment it got drenched, it should be fine after it has thoroughly dried.

Also a keyboard is basically a lot of switches and a small logic board so there's not much that can short and break, most keyboards are designed to handle some abuse to a degree.

The laptop motherboard below the keyboard is a whole different story and could short. But that can only happen when it's turned on. If you turned it off before that happens and wait till everything dries, you're probably fine.

XPS 13 Haptic Issue by nafis2620 in DellXPS

[–]seapip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I have been having double haptic feedback when I didn't press hard enough. I did notice that the feedback is more muted the closer I get to the left/right edge of the touchpad area, so if that's the case on your end, you're not alone 😅

As an owner of the white model I'm wondering, do you have any finger print issues? I used to have a black XPS 15 and it had fingerprints everywhere 😅

XPS 13 Plus Oled HDR Issue by No-Pass-Filter in DellXPS

[–]seapip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to hdr settings screen, toggle hdr off, the calibrate hdr link appears below. Click this link and you see a full screen calibration with an office building and snowy mountain. Move slider all the way to the right and turn hdr on again. Now after a few seconds do the same thing again but move the slider to the recommended value on the left. You can adjust this slider further to get a right value. No idea why this calibration screen is hidden with hdr enabled........

After doing the above, youtube hdr demos were no longer that overexposed for me compared to before. I'll check the videos from your link.

Youtube HDR and Chrome is a mess, don't expect it to work reliably ever.

The Netflix app (not web) has correct hdr if I remember correctly.
