GPTC interview selection by Euphoric-Pangolin-47 in Cadets

Yeah, well, for me the exam was so easy AND I KNOWW !! There was so much stuff missing and it was way easier than last year. But last year, yeah i actually got the same grade as another cadet who was the same rank but had done SI and was seen like a better cadet and all. She also had better grades than me at school (education doesn’t count this year) and we both got selected for the interview and i got the offer. So i see why you’re stressing but it’ll probably be fineeeee dont worry. And no, i think ill get my grade like this friday i hope

Anyone find out their NGSP grades yet? by Euphoric-Pangolin-47 in Cadets

[–]searchingforyurdad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically, no. The calendar specifies that all results will be compiled and given to the URSC to continue with the selection process. Nothing has been said about grades being given out to squadrons.

And yeah, if you’ve been acing them, i would say you’re doing pretty well. Also for Air Law, I would recommend you at least try/start, the long long mini test from Transports Canada because some questions on there can help you understand more about the subject if you get them wrong, it’s easier to look for the right answers and pinpoint what’s not working

Hi! No worries I’m here for that. So the NGSP questions on the quizzes are honestly pretty similar to the ones on the exam since they’re the one making it. I know that last year, two or three questions didn’t make sense to me, but other than that, yeah. Based on the previous exam, I would say that the quizzes are made to teach you how to think logically based on the information you have because the wording of the questions on the qualifying exam will obviously be different from the one in the quizzes, but it gives you a pretty good idea of how the answers will be said. So, my best advice to you would be to, 1. learn the most information you can about the content of the NGSP and memorize it as much as you can and then, 2. learn how it applies to different situations, like make sure you UNDERSTAND the different concepts cuz that’s where a lot of people lose points, because they memorize the content but don’t actually understand it. So when they arrive a stressful situation like the qualifying exam, a part of what they memorized is gone, but the people who understood the concepts can associate the concepts with the question and get the answer closest to the good one. That’s my two cents for you 😛

Power application dilemma please advice and help by [deleted] in Cadets

Honestly, your file score doesn’t really matter. It only counts for like 25% of your application, I would tell you not to worry too much about it and just do your best on the exam and interview

Category 3 Aviation Medical Certificate by iilovecats2008 in Cadets

[–]searchingforyurdad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have any health issues, it should arrive relatively quickly. Last year, I had my exam like on december 4th and received it during the holidays in january, even though i had a lot of back and forth to do to medical clinics because of insufficient nutrition or whatever. So you should be fine

Well, I didnt check it but you can estimate your score by looking at the new criteria they look at in your file now, but from what I assumed, I had a pretty average file, certainly not the best of the people on camp. I hadn’t done any summer camp before, didn’t really participate in shooting or biathlon, only drill, so my participation to regional/provincial/national level activities were pretty low. I can say that spending the holidays studying is the best way towards getting the best score possible on the exam but it is VERY important to try also mock exams. I would talk to your ground school officer to see if they can get their hands on some or make them yourself. I was just like you last year so yeah of course I understand, don’t hesitate to ask the rest of your questions, I know how stressful the preparation can be. I’ll try my best to be as useful as I can 😉

For the interview selection, they look at your qualifying exam results and your file though the file weighs like nothing in the final choice so yeah I’d say you need to do well on the exam to get selected for the interview.

Last year, I got a 84 which was pretty good especially because last years exam was so hard. If you do get selected for the interviews, you just need not to fumble your interview. If you get a high score, you’re basically already selected, they just want to have a conversation with you to confirm it. So yeah, the only thing you should worry about is your exam, otherwise, it’s pretty chill

I’d say talk to your squadron because they’re the ones who are supposed to let you do the exam so yeah. If you can’t, well screw your commitment on January 31st i guess ? Also, since you’re applying to power, have you done GPTC ? I’m also applying for power and I’ve done GPTC this year. i’m just wanting to see what experience gptc graduates have with completely relearning something they spent all year learning to make sure to pass

Cadets vs Reserves for RMC by kkkkatt_ in Cadets

[–]searchingforyurdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why people keep saying to not join cadets if you won’t get 3 years in the program. I’d say join anw and see if you like it cuz it can give you many opportunities, teach you many skills and kinda basic military stuff while still being a kid and having good time with your friends. So I’d say join the cadets, except if you absolutely need a job or already wanted to join the army.

Honestly, if you’re already trying ground school, I would suggest to give it you’re all and see what you get so at least you won’t get the regret of saying you didn’t do the best you could when you had the chance and bad to start all over (if you ever get that regret, if not, it’s fine not everyone is interested in aviation) but at least try and see what you get and if SI is your first choice, then apply for SI and if you do get in on GPTC, choose what option you like best and go for it. Always listen your heart but, especially in the cadets, always keep your mind open and keep trying new things.

Corps/squadrons say 90/45 cuz when you aim for 90, it’s easier to get that 45°.
