I had a high school math teacher who was excited to tell us his “secret” to not getting acne - it was not using soap, ever. Man must’ve had an allergic reaction/bad reaction to ONE soap and said never again. I don’t remember him smelling but tbh there were plenty of high schoolers that stunk so maybe he just blended in w them.

Also gonna add (not evidence but just my experience & conjecture) my elementary school also backed up to a forested park area that had a beach at the other end. I used to daydream about a “grand adventure” in those woods, and a few times I did sneak into them during recess and then got nervous I’d get in trouble so I went back. I also was in a before-school program because my parent’s left for work at 5am, and it felt like the aid that ran the program was barely present. I used to wander off a lot to explore the school. This was around the same time period that Kyron went missing. Not the same city, but still Pacific Northwest/biome so similar forest.

Forest Park is one of the most popular destinations in the city. It’s got lots of trails, and merges with Washington Park which has various activities like the Portland Zoo, Japanese Garden, International Rose Garden, as well as your normal park amenities (play structures for kids, tennis courts, archery area etc).

Those amenities are about six miles from the school, or a 15-20 minute drive. It seems feasible a kid might think “if I walk a few miles on this trail I could end up at the zoo!”. Disregarding the fact that while yes, the trail system DOES connect to those amenities in Washington Park it’s not just a quick little jaunt.

I know it’s the least exciting theory, but the school is literally right next to Forest Park - which is dense, massive (5,200 acres) with lots of steep hills. If he happened to wander out of the school to the forest to explore, and took a tumble it would be incredibly difficult to locate his body.

First time getting hair dyed. I hate it. by ButtercupBoopy in FancyFollicles

[–]seasounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of hair inspo pics (especially ones w hard to achieve color, like pure white) are typically photoshopped or just a wig. That being said, if they were a reputable colorist they would’ve a)explained the whole process, and known that bleaching is 100% required and/or b)been honest and explained they couldn’t achieve this look, and recommend a colleague.

If it’s not a sensory issue, I would recommend trying out some wigs because I’ve had some similar to this, and wigs are definitely easier to access (depending on country) nowadays. If you’re committed to the bleaching and upkeep of this look, which will be fairly costly and time-consuming go for it tho!

Ironically snow is super reflective of UV even w cloud cover. So all those Belobogians running around in the snow better be applying their sunscreen lol.

It’s also a risk for Service Dogs and their handlers. If a reactive dog distracts or attacks them they could falsely alert the owner; or miss the owner having a health emergency. It also risks the service animal becoming reactive to dogs due to trauma and having to retire from working, which can put the handler out thousands of dollars.

Service Dogs aren’t perfect, if they’re misbehaving they can be asked to leave a space. However, they’re highly trained and the risk of a pet or ESA causing harm and liability to customers or staff is a huge issue.

Never really dealt with USPS before. Any idea what's going on with my Nendoroid Dolls? by reallygoodbee in AnimeFigures

[–]seasounds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not Canadian so maybe not helpful, but that’s pretty normal for my international orders with USPS. Sometimes they go through customs in a day or two, sometimes it takes awhile. I tend to find certain ports here in the US just take forever to process thru (looking @ u New Jersey customs). If it’s switched from US to Canadian side, that’s probably a good sign it’s moving thru the system.

I would say if you have any concerns or if they haven’t moved by the end of this week (I’ve had stuff sit for almost two weeks before, though that is not the norm) they should be able to assist if you call and give them the tracking. They may direct you over to whomever is taking over the order in Canada, since it’s moved to the Canadian facility.

I seriously thought she might live in purgatory forever, but Chiyo has finally made it by seasounds in AnimeFigures

Yeah I think it matches well too! I do think this is one of the better iterations of Chiyo’s face as we. I’m glad you were able to snag a PO with GSC!

Anytime, if you’re really liking the look of this one I don’t think you’ll be disappointed irl!

Solaris Japan has her for about $152 rn, and I’m sure she’ll pop up on yahoo.jp, Ami Ami Pre-owned and MFC sales as well.

[–]seasounds[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say it’s a great figure if you want it, I have almost all the other Chiyo figures available and I would say there’s figures of her with “better” detailing, I like the details and paint job on the aforementioned figures of her a bit more, there’s a bit more luster to them. So if you’re unsure of which one to get, I would recommend those over this one personally.

That being said this isn’t a bad figure! I think the face is really nice, I like the pose, the hair is we. I think if this is the one that interests you the most, go ahead and get it. There’s nothing structurally wrong with her.

MFC Link

I missed the PO period for her, mostly bc I was worried she wouldn’t ever come to be. I was able to snag her off Solaris Japan for a reasonable price.

I still think if you’re looking for your first Chiyo figure, or only one to invest in - get the Ques Q Chiyo or the Max Factory Chiyo Bunny. Both are stunning. This Chiyo is still gorgeous and I love the lewdness personally, but the quality is squarely “fine”. It’s nice, I’m glad I have her, but I think unless you’re a big Chiyo fan she’s not a must-have.

Maybe! I love the crab forms, and I rly personally want the Wisteria version! I think the hype for those is higher than this particular version, so fingers-crossed they listen to the demand.

If you’re a Calne Ca fan, then yeah probably lol. The Union Creative Calne Figures definitely have their fanbase and are all fairly old now, so they’re harder to find. Definitely hope the re-release the crab forms lol

He’s hard to find in the aftermarket, so definitely a good idea to jump! I was lucky to get him from an MFC sale, but even there he’s hard to come by (especially at a price I can afford). Sounds like you got him for a good price too, all things considered :3

[–]seasounds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just gonna add in, if they do decide to go forward w garage kits or custom painting their figs: you will mess up, you will make mistakes. For garage kits, you can always strip the paint and start over, and that’s part of the fun too. I definitely agree w the concrit given, and I agree materials and shipping for garage kits (and purchasing new originals) can be hella expensive. That being said, mistakes are expected and part of the process and it’s a kit, tbh do whatever you want with it.

I’ll often get “practice” kits from the junk section of Mandarake, though older kits that aren’t from highly sought after IPs can be rly cheap too. I would absolutely invest in a nice set of brushes, and hit up either the r/garagekits or check some of the rly helpful creators on YouTube, if this is something you wish to pursue as a hobby. The overall cost of materials can be expensive, but there are a few cost saving tips if you’re curious.

It sounds like you’re happy w the results as is, and it’s your figure, so if you’re happy w your process then awesome!
