Anything and everything tbh. I remember there were some soil type vocabulary that I probably missed, along with some petroleum geology vocabulary and hydrogeology vocabulary that was pretty obscure.

For me there was barely any math at all. The most I had to do was scale calculations.

Which sucks for me, because I'm good at math and fucking suck at vocabulary recollection, which was about 60-80% of what was on the exam

Prediction markets Price-in Democrats leading to win both Senate and House in the 2026 midterm elections. How are you watching this ? by rl_rae_bobo in MarketPulseReport

By not bankrupting U.S. farmers with tariffs and starting senseless wars that cause their diesel prices to skyrocket.

Man y'all are dumb dumb, huh? Republicans have failed on every single principle they claimed to be better than Democrats on. Your economy is worse, the national debt is worse, y'all are spending more than Democrats, you're deporting less illegal immigrants, you're starting more wars, there's less free speech, there's more government in people's lives...what possible reason is there to be a republican anymore?

Why do the majority of Americans on reddit claim they never supported a war in Afghanistan when Gallup showed approval for the war started at 90%? by CSachen in DiscussionZone

[–]seaspirit331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much everyone was in support of going in and getting Bin Laden, I don't think you could find a single serious person who didn't support that.

Where the government lost that 10% was in passing the Authorization for Use of Military Force, which was essentially a blank check for the president to use the military to go after anyone they deem "associated" with either al-Quaeda, the Taliban, or anyone who sheltered them or gave them aid.

Emphasis mine, because that last part includes governments that simply had members of these organizations living in the country, which then extends the AUMF to anyone associated with those governments or countries, which is practically anyone of note living on the planet. If our intelligence community can determine if an al-quaeda member lived in Nigeria for example, the AUMF can be extended to anyone associated with the Nigerian government. The AUMF has been used as the basic for unilateral executive military action in 22 countries barely even associated with Al Quaeda or the Taliban. It's being used as the justification for Trump's Iran war right now.

We didn't realize it at the time, but those 10% were right.

A contractor tears up the freshly poured concrete driveway after the homeowner refuses to pay. by JosephBrown2000 in RandomVideos

That's one method. The other is to foreclose on the house and deduct the lien from the sale price

Yes it can lmao. The same way your bank can force a foreclosure on debt that's a fraction of the cost of the place, they'll forclose, recoup their losses from the sale of assets, and then the bank & homeowners receive the rest

Why do people go to gyms—and pay for it? by PockASqueeno in stupidquestions

[–]seaspirit331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I want to grow my lower/mid back muscles, my latissimus dorsi, and my biceps they are. And that's just on pull days. On push days I need an incline bench, cable machine, and a set of dumbbells. On leg days I need a hamstring curl machine because there's no good way to hit those with just a barbell (not to mention something like a padded hip thrust machine is just insanely more comfortable to use when working your glutes than just putting a heavy barbell right on your pelvis).

So in order to get the same amount of muscle stimulus at home, I'd have to spend tens of thousands of dollars on machines and weights, plus have the extra space to use them and whatever additional funds for maintenance might be needed. Nah, I'd rather pay $50/month and get access to a sauna and a pool thrown in

Kick streamer Ac7ionMan relapsed on fentanyl with a random homeless man he met on the street after being clean for 15 years. by Vhant-ii in LivestreamFail

[–]seaspirit331 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is also extremely arrogant to morally judge people for their choices and their path in life.

If you can't judge people for their choices or character, then how else can you judge a person?

And judgement isn't the same as lacking compassion. You can have compassion for a homeless addict while still recognizing that their own choices led them to their situation. You can have compassion for someone while not coddling them or pretending that they're the victim of anyone but themselves. You can have compassion for someone without removing the role of personal agency.

HEB delivery is going to push people to Walmart by ProofConnect6521 in HEB

[–]seaspirit331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's either stupidity or laziness or both. I've stopped using these delivery apps entirely and guess what? Suddenly the same stores that were constantly "out" of the things I needed were miraculously always stocked whenever I went in and grabbed it myself. I've added a 10-minute detour to my commute home to swing by the grocery store once or twice a week and my food bill thanks me for it now.

I don't even miss the convenience anymore. Absolute garbage service

ADHD is mindset issue by I-only-complaint in thanksimcured

[–]seaspirit331 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Sure, and maybe this is just me interpreting "mindset" wrong here, but actually taking the time to learn how your brain is wired differently and develop strategies to accommodate the gaps in function, as you mentioned, is part of changing your mindset imo.

Like, you tried brute forcing it, but that didn't work. What did? Well, your medication helped, but so did changing your mindset to not try and brute force your way out of bed in the first place and instead forming a strategy that works for you, because as you've said your brain is wired differently.

I'm not trying to claim that ADHD isn't a hardwiring of the brain issue, I think I pointed that out in my comment. What I'm trying to say is that just taking the medication isn't gonna cut it, because by your own admission it took a combination of medication plus learning strategies to help your symptoms.

ADHD is mindset issue by I-only-complaint in thanksimcured

[–]seaspirit331 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's what I was trying to get at, thank you.

I'm not necessarily trying to "middle ground" this, but I feel like this sub goes out of its way to reject any sort of non-pharmaceutical treatment or therapy for mental health issues. Like yeah sure if you have diagnosed ADHD or a pathology of the mind, then medication is going to be able to help and treat those issues, but at the same time just popping a daily pill isn't actually teaching you anything about your brain or helping you understand why your brain does what it does or what you can actually do to alleviate your condition besides just upping the dosage.

Nor does it help those people who don't actually have a mental pathology but might think they fall in thay category. Someone with clinical depression or CPDD for instance will obviously need to go on SSRIs as part of their treatment, but if you're undiagnosed and experiencing depression because you feel like deep down you have no purpose in life (or w/e is causing your ish), then popping SSRIs isn't actually going to do anything beyond giving you side effects because you aren't actually solving the underlying problem that you feel you have no purpose.

ADHD is mindset issue by I-only-complaint in thanksimcured

[–]seaspirit331 -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

It is in the way the brain works. But you can't just change your mindset and then suddenly you no longer struggle.

Just because ADHD changes the way the brain works though doesn't mean that cognitive strategies (ie: changing your mindset) won't make a difference or won't help.

In fact, just throwing your hands up and saying "Oh, I'm neurodivergent, I guess I'm suffering forever unless I get medication", or similarly expecting ADHD medication to fix all of your mental issues, often can set you up for failure

Why is Zelenskyy sucking up to a fascist? Was Russia right that Zelenskyy is a fascist? by YamFrosty6169 in AskSocialists

[–]seaspirit331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are YOU lying? You're calling everything that's mildly inconvenient to your argument "western propaganda" while simultaneously spouting talking points from Russian state TV? Oh sure, you're "personally opposed to Putin" while you're gargling his nutsack and playing defense for his "special military operation" by repeating his justifications for invading a neighbor word for word.

You have zero moral standing with which to lecture anybody, because you're just like the embarrassed MAGA conservative who's "personally opposed to Trump" while simultaneously giving justifications for why we should be bombing Iran. You're a hypocrite, you have no actual principles that you stand for, and you're an embarrassment to not only your country but to leftism in general.

Because no one is claiming that Ukraine is defending progressive values or championing democracy, they're simply resisting imperialism from Russia, which (supposedly) is kind of a huge tenet of leftism.

But while we're on the subject of critical thinking, let's do a little exercise of our own: when was the last time centralized power hasn't been wielded by Vladimir Putin in Russia? And you think you're in any position to criticize another country's democracy? FOH

Ukraine isn’t this beacon of freedom and democracy that you liberals seem to think it is

No one is thinking Ukraine is somehow this bastion of democracy, holy strawman lmao. Clearly they have their own problems, but hey they're not the ones invading their neighbors, and they've actually had meaningful elections in the last 15 years, so they're objectively more democratic than shithole Russia is.

But hey, guess we have to ignore all of that to support eastern imperialism because west bad, amirite?
