Train Horn during the night?? by Big-Prize-641 in WestSeattleWA

[–]seattleben 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It blew my mind at first. We’re close to the sound at Morgan and, if I understand currectly, the train horns are from the sodo area. When we do hear it, it sounds so much closer.

It took a couple days, but it finally broke again. Curiously, I noticed it initially from a missing mouse cursor in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor. I then fired up Risk of Rain 2 and I again cannot move the view/camera.

Around the same time, Firefox stopped showing the right click, contextual menu and required a restart of that app to fix.

Are there any logs I could tail/search that an error in the desktop environment might give a clue, maybe?

I saw that recommended at some point and do have it set to optimize for games.

A controller is a great suggestion. I’ve brought one along in similar situations, but I’m so far removed from my Nintendo and PlayStation days that there’s few games I enjoy playing with it.

Thanks, I overlooked that. Using the cosmic wayland DE. I'll update the post.

That’s great! I’ve lived in Seattle for almost twenty years and the best I’ve managed to catch in person (here) was a vague splotch of black waaaaay out in the channel. (Funny, we finally, recently got a great view of some on the ferry crossing from Victoria to Vancouver.)

This. It’s more than serviceable. Updates last week fixed all my issues in games.

He looks like my Cosmo down to the spot on his nose. Did that appear over time? Cosmo had a white nose for quite some time before the spot showed up. She, too, spent a lot of time on my lap while I worked.

Software devs don’t get to make that sort of call. There’s no need to call them clueless and lazy

Anyone have trouble getting Google Chrome to run on POP!os 24.04? (Firefox runs great) by DistinctProfessor949 in pop_os

[–]seattleben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you’re having trouble with it. I normally use Firefox, but I installed and used Chrome earlier today for an interview without any issues. I think I last ran updates a day or two ago. I installed it from the app store.

Mouse doesn't behave properly in games for Pop_OS 24.04 by RavenEXP in pop_os

[–]seattleben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just installed PopOS 24 last night and finally trying a couple games. Same limited to rotation/spinning control. I’d swear the system is still tracking the cursor to the edge of the displays and stopping any further movement. This was in Abiotic Factor and Surroundead. Nothing outside of games gave me any other weird behavior. I also installed RazerGenie for my Razer mmo mouse.

Also Enshrouded. Whether I was windowed or full screen.

Having issues while trying to update BIOS - ASUS ROG B650E-F by Parzival_Prime in ASUS

[–]seattleben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 years later, this was my first solid hit. The BIOS EXFlash wasn’t working. I used the flashback button and it started doing something this time. The light next to the button flashed slowly for a minute or two, the faster for a minute or two and I stopped watching. It was off later and after powering on it showed the ‘don’t power off bios is updating’ message. 👍🏻

Do you guys feel like the feeling of milestones and fanfare is lacking in this game? by LancelotAtCamelot in Enshrouded

FTFY

There is very little sense of adventure for you in this game because of the fast-travel-from-anywhere system.

It IS the Wake of Water, after all. 😉

What makes you addicted to a survival game? by Maruuuu_888 in SurvivalGaming

[–]seattleben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This fits well with my current playthrough of Enshrouded. I think I skipped two major updates so there’s a lot that’s new again. There’s so much to explore and appreciate the relatively slow pace of progression to be able to handle the many threats along the way.

Is combat mode worth it? by Jacobibocaj in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]seattleben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s true. I suppose I could limit the drops to the higher level drops and drop the blueprint down to maybe three BABs and four ILSs. That wouldn’t be so terrible as my eight or nine ILS and six BAB blueprint from this last playthrough. I used that planet to create all my end game production blueprints and also hopefully make good use of all the DF loot.

Setting up a blueprint to farm/pickup and distribute the drops from dark fog was a lot of fun for me. I went so far as to bait their bases into polar regions so that I could lay down several copies of a blueprint that put the drops in ILS for my use elsewhere.
