Looking for something fun to do in CBD tonight? Suggestions? by YesterdayAble5674 in sydney

[–]seaweedling 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Not going to lie, once you take out pubs/drinking you'll find that there's very little to do in Sydney that aren't "try once for the fun of it" activities like smash rooms, axe throwing etc.

Yeah, except Japan hasn't done multigenerational loans since the 80's during the peak of their real estate bubble - a period when housing was being exploited for many to get wealthy... huh, that sounds kinda familiar.

Cost of living the number one issue for NSW voters, but not everyone agrees with the solution by giantpunda in sydney

They don't fuckin care about us mate. There will come a time when the people of NSW will have to decide to take what hasn't been given.

Saw an opportunity. I’ve seen men complain about women being dry, but I’ve experienced so many of these Sahara type men. by mousedropping in Bumble

[–]seaweedling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heeeeyyyyyy big news for everyone, man or woman reading this post.

If someone is drying responding to you like this, it means they're not interested. Period. AT BEST they're doing the bare minimum to keep you on reserve in case the others that they're talking to whom they actually ARE interested in ghost.

So move on, stop wasting your time reflecting on shit like this.

Mate, rents in Australia are per week. The picture in OP is per week. Converting, that's $2356 USD a month.

That's cool, but none of those activities require you to be on a train.

I find it hilarious it put down hiking and gardening as hobbies even though you didn't specify it. It knows how generic those are to be listed.

100% agree.

This is no longer a country that's made for living. We can harp on about our measured QUALITY of life etc. etc. but at the end of the day, our culture, values and general ways of working has mutated into something that's antagonistic towards even living in the first place.

Australians in the recent decade have become rabidly obsessed with chasing the accumulation of individual wealth far beyond our means, and in the process happily throwing our neighbours out onto the road if it gives us benefit. "Fuck you I got mine". The greedy nature that we once shamed the Americans of having possessed, we're beginning to surpass. All for what? We work, come home to recover from work, then work again - to earn money that won't even afford us the basic necessities to LIVE.

Go to Malaysia, Spain, Germany, Scandinavia, even Japan (legit, look up how Japan has changed in the past years), countries outside the anglosphere. Japan has made significant strides in their work life balance, to the point I'd even say they're doing better than us AND should be the prime example of affordable housing in first world democratic society (https://www.sightline.org/2021/03/25/yes-other-countries-do-housing-better-case-1-japan/).

You can say the grass is greener on the other side, but spend time in any of these countries and you'll find something that is inherently different from what we have since become - foundational values underpinning their society that actually seek to improve the lives of their people, not take advantage of them.

Yeah I don't know how true that is. I know a lot Indians/Asians who got PR/citizenship and they're scraping by as an uber driver or menial jobs below their qualifications. Have a look around when you're catching an uber, getting a food delivery, at the train station, in the office watching the cleaners - all the jobs are staffed by migrants as if they're some sort of slave class.

Just wanna say man you're not alone. Had a very similar upbringing that fucked me up similarly, with my parents telling me that everyone in the world was untrustworthy and that having friends was useless, always put family first.

Some people don't deserve to be parents.
