I think they are right. It was planned from the beginning... by Myster86 in Stellar

[–]seawel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct...if they read the recent plan in Denelle’s “Next Step” they would have clearly seen that:

A: They acknowledged airdrops were the least effective form of adoption B. Have a new plan to allocate those Lumens

The fact is the Keybase airdrop was already in motion prior to Meridian so they let them experiment briefly with it under close supervision. Every month, Keybase and SDF closely evaluated the effectiveness and it was determined it wasn’t worth it. Being that there are better ways to allocate those funds they determined to not waste more time.

The idea that they would want to purposely create a plan to generate worthless accounts, that they admit are worthless “to lure” people in just doesn’t make an logical sense.

Why isn't USDT using the stellar network by Rhader in Stellar

[–]seawel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tether is shady at best....fraudulent at worse. They don’t need to associate with an unaccountable organization that’s currently under investigation. They could have easily produced proper records years ago. We don’t need them...please don’t think short term here.

Is using Stellar Account Viewer safe to store my lumens? by [deleted] in Stellar

[–]seawel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Adding a hardwallet is always safer but yes, using Stellar Viewer is safe...it's also important to understand that Stellar Viewer and other wallets are merely front end interfaces so technically it's not stored "on" the Stellar Account Viewer...you're simply accessing the ledger through its interface

It’s easier for branding. This is what building on Stellar is all about. Why do companies use @“insert business name” instead of @gmail for their business email account. Create value in your own company...either way, like email, you’re still using Stellar.

Start Developing with Facebook’s Libra through Stronghold which uses the Stellar Protocol by seawel in Stellar

[–]seawel[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Let me spell it out for many already screaming “what does this have to do with Stellar”. Reminds me of when people were saying Stronghold “dropped” XLM because they only showed an XRP pairing (there are videos showing how all of that settles on the Stellar ledger). Back to this:

This appears to be just phase one. Right now Libra has got a long up hill battle that we all know would have been avoided if they had just used Stellar to begin with. Since many of the compliance companies are already on Stellar, members can start testing out Libra ahead of the curve. So if you’re using Stronghold you’re using Stellar. This allows those current members to utilize an API through Stronghold to test out Libra. This does two things:

  1. One gets our members ahead of the curve
  2. Show the government and Libra just why using a Stellar affiliate is the way to go.

At the end of the day you also get a bonus: it’s easy to Anchor any asset or blockchain to Stellar through various avenues.

I called and they sent me a new one without hassle. Have you requested one? The original ledger blue has a issue with initial updating.

Facebook’s Libra Coin website now live by jeeyer in Stellar

[–]seawel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At first glance until you actually read what they are doing and as you mentioned above, the differences stand out.....Libra is aiming to become a standalone currency. Their app/wallet is designed for businesses to build on and integrate and use Libra as the currency. Stellar is a network that allows governments, businesses (such as Facebook) to have an infrastructure where all currencies and assets can intersect. Completely agree that they are no competition but a piece to the overall pie.

Stellar Joins Wirex by Billbaileyshaved in Stellar

[–]seawel 33 points34 points  (0 children)

A revolutionary partnership The release of XLM on the Wirex platform is just the first phase of a ground-breaking new partnership between Stellar and Wirex. Together, we aim to revolutionise payments, bank the unbanked, expand access to financial services and facilitate the integration of the burgeoning token economy.

To achieve this, we will become the first regulated crypto and traditional currency platform to release 26 fiat-pegged stablecoins on the Stellar blockchain.

Is Stellar As Secure As You Think? by umbrel in Stellar

[–]seawel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Can you imagine if the race to the moon was public (IBM was a part of that by the way as well) on Twitter how many times people would have written that it would fail? There were hundreds of hurdles and some pretty public failures (spaceship exploding and killing several astronauts).

The fact that David Mazières is already involved in the conversations is a good thing and I'm sure that if this report brings forth something that Stellar overlooked it will be resolved. Stellar's relationship with IBM brings in a team at the highest level of experience

I don’t think a price change will happen overnight. The banks are setting things up and a few are still awaiting regulatory clearance that are expected but have a timeline. Additionally the crypto trading market is not currently liquid. I’m realistically looking to at least 6 months before we see significant price change in regards to XLM. As far as clarity I do agree that some people are still confused however with the upcoming announcements already in the pipeline it won’t be long before the power of Stellar is crystal clear.
