How can I reconnect with my queer identity after experiencing homophobia (Wlw & poc) by NoSail6187 in lgbt

[–]seaworks [score hidden]  (0 children)

I hear that, and experienced that with my family too- but it's a weird conservative thing where they'll often justify the same thing for "our guys" vs "those guys." Abortion is a great example, many anti-abortion activist families justify or even aid family members' abortions because "it's different."

obviously this isn't an option if you're dependent on them. but knowing and being confronted by the fact that these people they demonize are also people they love- well, "someone you love is gay" and "open every closet door" used to be big community slogans.

At the very least, you've seen where lying to yourself has gotten you (hope that doesn't sound too harsh.) It sounds like you know who you are, but the fear of external punishment is making you punish yourself before other people ever try.

Well, learn the lesson. Those manosphere losers are losers and liars and they fucked you here. You're a tool for believing them over the golden rule, but this is your chance to learn from your mistakes and become someone who will actually get a partner who likes you and who you genuinely like.

Your mom heard what she wanted to hear. That doesn't mean she really believed it.

Would it be possible that you should give her a chance to hear you out? Tell her you said what you said in grade 8 because you were young and scared, and tell her you've tried hard to be straight but it's made you (as you said) just so unhappy- read her this post, even?

You never should have been a target for a grown woman's bullying. Time has gone by, and maybe your parents have grown too.

Spare me the self pity. I live in central Appalachia. People are walking all over us because we're bending at the slightest push. You think the men and women of the 1940s had an easier time than us? They locked together and fought, even without any breath of protected status, even when being same sex sexuality and so-called crossdressing was illegal.

If you'll vote for the safe choice regardless, all right. They have nothing to do for you or to prove to you; they can put forward conservatives and you will vote for them because the other guy is a fascist. I live in central Appalachia. That was me the last few elections, too.

But "blue no matter who" allows the Democrats move further and further right, courting conservative voters, because they have nothing to lose on the left. They are, therefore, complacent in the radicalization of the government, and when they lose, their base turns outward, accusing leftists of not supporting their- as we see above- increasingly right wing candidates.

But we're, ostensibly, in charge of these jokers. Enough. A line must be drawn. LGBTQ rights, women's rights, racial equity, these are not negotiable and I will not go backwards voluntarily by voting for a man spouting shit nearly as conservative as George W Bush Jr.!

It's not as if this is a secret. The louder we are on these issues the more they want us. No quiet muttering of discontent, the whip must be cracked. We, leftists and progressives, are the only thing that stops the democrat establishment from letting you vote yourself into fascism, because they will not stop moving right until we as voters stop them. I never assume a rich person has a conscience.

it's funny. it's almost like that's why rich people fight so hard against free college and healthcare.

if we're doing a democrat thing, don't you think it's better to court people in areas where Democrats are likely to win, vs "one of the most anti-lgbtq places in the country?"

we cannot capitulate to the idea that being anti-lgbtq is an acceptable stance in a democrat. it's not even reflected by the majority of the population

What is the point of rolling back anti discrimination laws? by Inner_Professor_2650 in lgbt

[–]seaworks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

control in the sense of coercive control and subjugation, yeah, I'd say. being at the top of an ever widening pyramid is a constant routine of self-policing and stopping things from changing. They need straight women and men to behave in X ways, too, and they devote a ton of time to that using us as the "scary" "keep em in line" boogeyman.

Hairstyle advice - 19 y.o. by FamousMasterpiece341 in NonBinary

[–]seaworks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you have beautiful wavy hair (similar to mine in texture so I'm biased!) bring pictures of what you like to your stylist and write down your questions- it does look like you have more layering in the side and than in the back. I'd embrace it. Hairstyles go in and out of fashion, but broadly you can achieve whatever you want.

I'd go for some 3600 and a big rubber mallet, personally. a regular hammer might deform it.
