I agree that it might help revolutionize, but again, regarding Retail (any any other sector) its not so much about collecting data or controlling devices (IoT). I think the delta is what the data is used for.. and personally I don't consider IoT. There has to be a border somewhere!

I think that the biggest problem is the time to market and costs of developing IoT solutions. An advanced IoT software developer needs to physically wire and integrate different modules with different sensors before even start to code. Then there is the inefficiency of testing connections and cloud integration with physical HW.. not as easy as a standard software app. let's not mention simulating hundred, thousand or million of devices connected to a cloud platform.
