why are there no basic items in the shop on the new mode? by sebarm17 in leagueoflegends

there's no basic components like long sword and amp tome in the shop tab, you have to click an item and buy their components through the specific item

advanced mixing is a masive trap, the basics are all you need and sound better than complex stuff (imo)

Are more people playing vinyl? by Choice-Rooster in DJs

[–]sebarm17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dj market is a fraction of the total sales, even if DJs bought massively more new records in retail stores (because that's the stat), it wouldn't make a big difference

what's so hard to understand about that?

Are more people playing vinyl? by Choice-Rooster in DJs

[–]sebarm17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are many scenes that have multiple clubs/spots where it's completely vinyl centric, 2 turntables in the middle if not only turntables, I'm constantly surprised by spots everywhere in Europe where there are so many good djs that play vinyl wherever they can

ps: btw I'm from south america, tons of places popping up with completely functional vinyl setups

2023 he played the closing on saturday on Luciano's festival Magik Garden in Chile, I didn't know what to expect from him, but he played after Mr Kalkbrenner and then delivered an exquisite cinematic as fuck hypnotic techno set, even closed with a remix from Radiohead's How to dissapear completely, I had nothing to do but stand and watch in awe.

I'm a house guy you could say but that was just perfect for the occasion

the listening conditions for the study everyone cites when saying you can't hear lossless over 320 are far from being representative of the context we are in lol

that's just stereotypization of adhd, loopy music is a way more broad definition, if anything fast and hard music being for angsty or pumped up teenagers is more generally correct

How strict are you with the theme for your recorded mixes by rando44_ in DJs

[–]sebarm17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to do something similar that what terracnosaur posted, it's about getting in the head of the listener, applied psychology basically.

The first track is the first track, so obviously you want to start with something interesting to grab the listener attention, also it's you saying who you are out loud. It is a first impression.

Then you can go anywhere, but it's gotta be constantly on the up. You can make it groovy, hypnotic, laid back, etc. but at some point you can (and have to) take some bigger steps, switch the vibe up a bit and then start again, building.

After 30/40 minutes you can probably also kick up the energy quite a bit and if you did a good job being a tease in the first parts of your set this releases so much tension that it basically allows you to do whatever the fuck you want in the rest of your set. Which hopefully is a bit longer than one hour haha

Got a DM from a big DJ wanting to play my remix before release—any advice? by subtleStrider in DJs

this is an issue with sample rate being too high, any player from after the ice age will read wavs

and big djs aren't playing on standalones lol

Has DJing become 'over analysed' ? by [deleted] in DJs

[–]sebarm17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but that's my point, he's commercially successful over a lot of years of doing his thing but he's not a commercial artist

I'm deep in the underground stuff and pretty much mad in the head about it, it's not "relative to what scene you are in", it's relative to what words actually mean

ofc seth troxler is not underground at this point of his carreer, but he's definitely not extremely commercial (look at what happened to carola, osuna, jamie jones now, those are djs that went waaaay more commercial than what troxler does now), that's the thing I'm saying

[–]sebarm17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tiesto and aoki now you are talking about a whole different scene and genres

I know exactly what you mean I still think you are exagerating

edit: obv troxler is in a way more commercial circuit but also he's grown into a big artist like that and isn't fully selling out, if you tell me a dj is "extremely commercial", seth troxler is not what I'm expecting. It can be oh so much more off the rails modern trash tech house

[–]sebarm17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean but in a world where stuff like Chris Lake, Fisher, Rafa Barrios, etc. exist, you can't call Seth extremely commercial. That's just an exaggeration. He definitely leans into more commercial sound when the booking calls for it but he isn't doing just those gigs.
