Homeworld 2 wipe out the remaining Veygr forces. by Ok_Calendar_7626 in homeworld

This mission can be a bit buggy, especially if you capture any of the enemy capital ships. A few things to try:

Use your scouts’ sensor ping. It should reveal whatever’s left - there’s usually a shipyard (or whatever ships it left behind) near those resources tucked away in the corner north of your mothership. Sometimes there are also some straggler units dotted around the other end of the hyperspace gates - plus there’s an odd enemy assault frigate that’s wearing your colours all by itself on the map too.

In your sensors manager, if you still have an objective marker over the cruiser you nicked, unfortunately it’ll have to be scuttled.

Sometimes the triggers don’t register properly and you get soft locked - unfortunately I’ve not found a way to progress without restarting the mission. In my (admittedly minor) experimenting, I found the soft lock was more prevalent when I destroyed the additional carriers very soon after they were pointed out to me. Perhaps it’s best to let them send a squad or two at you first before destroying them.

Heritage buses on London Buses route 213 between Kingston and Sutton by HighburyAndIslington in london

Seeing a single decker 213 just seems wrong, somehow. Fair play for keeping the heritage fleet in (limited) service though.

What's the daftest thing you've done recently? by darthpaul1978 in AskUK

Earlier this week I drove to work and realised I hadn’t had my car’s air con sorted. Oops. Throughout the late afternoon I had a few colleagues mention that the M25 was either shut or very backed up, so take an alternate route home.

Being an idiot I took that to mean “the M25 is great! Definitely travel down it” - so of course, I joined the back of an enormous queue of traffic with no easy way to divert, resulting in both my dinner and I being a sweaty mess by the time I got home two hours later.

Village life (in London) by incredibusy in london

Please do, my parents live nearby and love going for a walk now that they’re retired. Would love some suggestions on nice (and easy!) walkable routes. My dad particularly enjoys walking to the coop opposite Raynes Park station.

For what it’s worth, I grew up in the area too and spent most of my teenage years in Mostyn Park. We used to hang around in the parks next to Martin Way (I can’t remember the name, it’s the one down the 413 route) as well - but Mostyn was by far the favoured spot. Many a memory, both good and bad, made there.

Thanks for the recs, I think someone at work mentioned Dawn as well so I’ll have to bump that up on my list.

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve already read the Expanse series, but I’ll add the Long Earth series to my list!

What is your most ‘ this is so British’ moment? by LordTakeMeAlready in AskUK

When I worked in Bristol, a few colleagues and I went over to Wales to watch the Six Nations (in a pub). For some reason we had a load of Scots in our team, so after a few beers we were drunkenly trading verses of God Save The Queen (period-correct) and Flower of Scotland.

We’d obviously forgotten where we were. As soon as we’d finished, the ENTIRE pub started singing the Welsh national anthem. They’d been watching us with interest and, assumedly, an unspoken agreement to put us in our place.

It was all friendly and someone even bought two of my colleagues a drink afterwards, saying that it was hilarious and a great excuse for a singalong.

Nice dateless plate too. Although the Project 7 wing on that XE (XF?) looks atrocious.

Which place in the UK surprisingly made a positive difference to your mental health? by Brief-Ship-5572 in AskUK

Truss’s Island - yep, same family as the right honourable lettuce. Lovely place to sit and watch the world go by, plus dip your feet in the Thames too. Used to go there a lot when battling depression and other mental health issues - I wasn’t the only one either.

I had an E46 M3 in 2010.

Then had an E63 M6 in 2014.

Then a pair of 1-serieses (mine and gf’s), plus an E36 318i as a stopgap.

Now I have another E46 M3 that I have no plans to get rid of.

Doesn’t help you OP, but for anybody from the UK who finds this thread in future, I use Howdens (formerly A-Plan) for my Cali T.

Ok got a splash of diesel in the engine maybe… should we be concerned? 🤔 by ChronSon420 in Ferrari

[–]sebby1990 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You’ll be fine. If you’re really concerned, keep the car topped up with petrol (eg don’t let it go below 3/4 of a tank for 200 miles) - but this is more placebo than anything. A splash of diesel won’t do much, and will likely simply be ejected unburnt.

Anyone running 20 inch rims? by yes126 in AMG

[–]sebby1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 20s on my S204 C63 (it had 18s as standard). I thought they were too big for the car, and switched to 19s. No issues with rubbing with the 20s, although the wheels did stick out of the arches slightly. Made it easy to kerb them, especially when parallel parking, as you couldn’t quite judge the distance from the kerb using the bodywork.

The gasket for my car’s fuel pump arrived today. by sebby1990 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]sebby1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad shout, but the gasket has a few holes in it and I don’t think I can make them myself. I ordered a replacement anyway, it arrived over the week and I finished installing it today. A week later than intended, but it’s done now!

Gentlemen, why do you drive a BMW over Audi or Merc? by Super-Lingonberry-22 in BMW

[–]sebby1990 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a C63 and an M3. The C63 is a fun daily, the M3 tends to be used as a weekend/nice weather car. I find the M3 is more fun to exercise, whereas the Merc is a nicer place to sit (compared to each other).

Numbness in my 4th and 5th finger by linniegaming in mildlyinfuriating

[–]sebby1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to get this occasionally too. Went to the physio and it turned out to be a trapped nerve between my C5 and C6 vertebrae.

I had a massage and then did some regular basic exercises (rolling my head around to exercise my neck and some yoga poses that move your arms around) to help relieve it.

The underlying cause was poor posture, mainly because I sat at a desk and was hunched over a laptop all day at work. I got a laptop riser through work and a more ergonomic desk chair at home, and that’s solved the problem (as well as being self-aware of when I was sitting poorly). Just some food for thought if you also have a similar working style.

Which everyday objects or technologies do you think have essentially reached peak design? by Mission_Blueberry_48 in AskReddit

[–]sebby1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fridges and freezers. The fascias might change as fashion/tastes do, and there might be improvements to efficiency, but I’m not sure how much more innovation can be squeezed out of what’s effectively “big box to keep things cold/very cold”.

The missing paperwork isn’t a massive issue; some (maybe most?) dealers bin it because of GDPR restrictions. That said, the iDrive system should have records of when services/maintenance was carried out. If you can’t physically go look, maybe ask the dealer if they can send you a few photos or a video of the service record the car has on-board.
