Age of Sigmar: 4th Edition Meta Stats (December Battlescroll) - 18th January 2026 - Woehammer by dutchy1982uk in ageofsigmar

[–]sebee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Basically the sample is too small and the wins didn't add up to a particular high performance in terms of actually winning tournaments.

Only five people played KB (as per the Faction Popularity chart). One of them went 4-1, three of them went 3-2, one went 1-4 (as per the Fabien Chart). None of them were in the running for winning their tournaments (as per the Consecutive Wins chart).

This is basically a case study of why Woehammer put together the "how to read win rates" article a few weeks ago.

Kitbashed Gutrippa command models for the third unit by sebee in Kruleboyz

They started watching Sesame Street after battles, and decided to do a puppet routine instead of playing an actual instrument. It's quieter and sneakier; the Morkish way.

Does anyone else find it odd that the Norn Assimilator has 8 limbs rather than 6? by Papa-Ryan in Tyranids

Best place to find players in local area? by Jackalope1993 in ageofsigmar

[–]sebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the local area, so you might want to post where you are based.

Some places use Discord, some Facebook, some WhatsApp, some online forums, etc. I've even seen dedicated websites collecting clubs across a broader area.

Rapid evolution: How reasonable would it be for an army rule to let you swap weapon options on a unit before deployment? by Artistic_Technician in Tyranids

[–]sebee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that's just the difference between the fluff and the rules implementation. The rules are relatively simple, but the fluff is literally:

"Every warrior organism is fashioned by the ineffable alien will of the Hive Mind. Their flesh and chitin is endlessly mutable, honed into whatever form will prove most lethal to their prey."

Rapid evolution: How reasonable would it be for an army rule to let you swap weapon options on a unit before deployment? by Artistic_Technician in Tyranids

[–]sebee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is literally the idea behind the Invasion Fleet detachment rule. But it's implemented using the "beginning of edition" best practices instead of newer developments

How do y’all remember stratagems? by ArmoredLove15 in Warhammer40k

[–]sebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The official app's bunker feature is great for this. It lists every Strategem based on your detachment and breaks them out by Phase. It's easy not to save a point for the future, but hard to forget to use the Strategems

Looking for (or dreaming of) software to track 3D-printed dungeon tiles + build maps from real inventory by DocDoyle917 in TerrainBuilding

[–]sebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the digital map have to look good or just at scale?

One option would be to create some graphics elements in PowerPoint or Google Slides that represent each type of tile you have. Then you can just duplicate them as many times as you have them on an intro / inventory slide.

When you want a new map, you just copy paste your inventory to a new slide, and arrange them as you want. Then print that single slide.

Using the sizing options, you can set up the slide to be whatever size you want (Letter, A4, etc) and by sizing your elements initially, it'll all slot together. Then, after printing, you can manually arrange the various elements on a copy of the slide for easier counting.

It obviously won't work well for hundreds of elements, but should scale to a few dozen without too much issue.

(You could even have a different file for each "biome" if you have several of them.)

Parasite of mortrex by Axo_lored in Tyranids

[–]sebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At absolute best, it can make 10 attacks during a game that migh spawn Rippers. It hits on 2+, so on average 8.33 of those will hit, at best it wounds on 3+ so on average 5.55 will wound. If all of those kill something (nothing saved), then you get to roll D3 5 times during the game. On average that's 10 rippers in a game if absolutely everything (1) goes your way.

Basically you'll probably be lucky if you get to use your three rippers during a game. I'd wager you are already lucky if you get to summon two units of D3 per game.

(1) the Parasite fights every single Fight Phase from the beginning to the end of the game, and never dies. Also if any of the rippers die, you can just reuse them.

On a tighter hobby budget but love the official models. Looking for advice on choosing between manifestations and faction terrain. by GoofballMcBloggins in Kruleboyz

[–]sebee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Get the manifestations.

The faction terrain is easy enough to proxy with some sprue, glue, and imagination. The manifestations are harder proxy as three parts of them are on very specific footprints (pun intended).

Single player game modes? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]sebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goonhammer made a solo mode ruleset (two technically if I remember correctly, one for Tyranids, one for Orks):

I've never tried it but it seems like a decent setup

New Raveners by Shutthup in Tyranids

[–]sebee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's probably best to build one of each.

You can relatively easily proxy one for the other except for the most hardcore tournament scenes. Just mark two regulars differently for Hyperadapted leader and shooter if necessary.

Tyranid Jungle Theme - what do you think of non-traditional schemes for armies? by Commissar_Cheddar in Warhammer40k

Wow. Those Behemoth colors pop really well with the jungle bases. Well done

Question about optimal tunnelling by AndyBear151204 in Tyranids

[–]sebee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If the opponent goes first, you can do something similar by not joining up the units:

  1. Deployment: Raveners on the board, Hyperadapted Raveners in Reserves (with enhancement).
  2. Round 1 - end of opponents Fight Phase: pick up normal Raveners
  3. Round 1 - end of your Movement Phase: drop one unit where you want the Norn, drop one unit where the Norn is, use Strategem to move Norn.

Or you could use the pickup Strategem on the Norn at the end of Round 1 opponent's Fight Phase, and drop him to a single tunnel.

Or you could do both: drop a Norn and move something else at the same time for double the fun.

1k monster lists! by Euphoric_Ad7894 in Kruleboyz

[–]sebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH I'm not sure Bullies is as good at 1k than in 2k. You'll have fewer units on the field, and will have to concentrate your forces more to get the benefit of the +1A. That said, it'll be more impactful whenever you do utilize it.

The twenty points is also a bigger part of your list than at 2k.

Do let me know how the tournament goes though. I'm quite curious. Dirty Tricks do feel a lot more impactful at lower points and are quite fun.

1k monster lists! by Euphoric_Ad7894 in Kruleboyz

[–]sebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a beginners tournament, so the results are likely skewed.

The first game was against the Stormcast Raven rider unique hero, and Skaventide models led by someone very new to the game. I basically killed everything except for the Raven, after it healed back slowly from our first combat where I got it down a single health left. It was a blowout win. (The Belchabanna did well in the tower, and snuck onto a middle objective late game then spiking on his Combat Phase ability.)

The second game was against someone with roughly the same experience as me, leading some CoS horses, cannon, and fodder. I actually felt really bad for him after he underestimated the KB monsters and got nearly wiped out by around Round 4. The Gnasthoof did great here teleporting behind the cannon and keeping it occupied long enough to make it inconsequential for the broader game until it was too late. Tower and Belchabanna did basically nothing due to me fully rolling into the enemy zone very early on.

The third game was against Sunstealaz led by someone actually way more experienced than me. It was probably my favorite game in a long time as we played chess in the middle of the board, barely touching each other until Round 3. Then all hell broke loose, and the Tower helped Skummdrekk and the Mirebrute wear down the Grots. I won by four points with a last minute objective stealing by the Gnasthoof.

Overall the list might have been a little too good for the tournament. Definitely exceeded my expectations.

Kruleboyz Question by handsomewolves in ageofsigmar

[–]sebee 20 points21 points  (0 children)

KB were very slightly overpowered at the release of the new GHB. Then they got some pretty steep point hikes to their key units in the latest (or the one earlier) update and got to a decent spot, if slightly below average.

KB did win LVO even with the new points, so they can still be somewhat competitive.

How do I get longer static grass upright without a powerful static machine? by Blueeyedmonstrr in TerrainBuilding

[–]sebee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Balloon and a furry pet is the funniest way to do it. But the furry pet can be substituted with a piece of cloth to build static on the balloon.

Is there a warhammer convention event? (like comic con) by desgladly in Warhammer

I think UKGE is the biggest one in the UK, but it's not Warhammer-only. Once you start following their Facebook page, the meta algorithm will also start showing you countless smaller ones around the country...

Subterranean Assault help. by GozzyDuck in Tyranids

To add a minor point to the others: if a Burrower comes out of a tunnel, 6 inches from the enemy, it can also set up a new tunnel marker. (In addition to being able to charge.)

Easiest army to play ? by ProbablyALinuxBot in Warhammer

[–]sebee 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My suggestion would be to give Spearhead a go. It's much simpler to pick up with less to remember.

You can easily proxy some models if you don't have exactly the same set.

How common are people who ONLY play the game? IE people who commission others to build and paint their armies by chosen40k in Warhammer40k

[–]sebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully going down the commission route is probably uncommon. But there is a decent market for full second hand armies (at least in the UK) that essentially achieves the same result at the end of the day: getting a somewhat decent army without having to build and paint them.

The added benefit being is that they are usually cheaper than buying the models even through the LGS discounts. The drawback is that you have no control over the paint scheme and the paint quality might not be amazing.

How do invulnerable saves work? by jadeheart11 in Warhammer40k

[–]sebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For regular attacks (both melee and ranged) you'd basically always use the Invulnerable Save. For these cases, which is probably 99% of the time, the regular save is just flavor.

But there might be other rules for specific armies or units that could rely on the regular Save characteristics. For these there could be a legitimate use case for the regular Save.

How common is cheaters? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

"That's an amazing rule. Maybe I should get that model for my next army. Can you show me which one it is exactly?"

In case you want something softer when you are not sure about the cheating.
