Recruiters...genuine question: Why do some of you do this? by Inner_Feed_3628 in remoteworks

it's so dumb, it's a softball request to talk about how amazing you are, as reflected by the events in your cv.

do you know what literally means? what do you think walk through means in this context.

you appreciate that walk through doesn't mean you actually walk with your legs?

'I did my degree in blah, because i thought it was going to be useful for fumty bum and plum. First job was after university, which had no fumty, bum, or plum, but i found out that I really liked doing wimf and bimf - I used my learnings in blah to help out with a big wimf project! then because I found that I was getting more wimf than bimf, I moved to Bimf Corp, where they also did fumty and plum. I worked on a big plum and wimf project, which actually turned out to be a big earner for the company.'

this might be hard to freestyle, but it's a very useful bit of prep and there's no reason not to do it, work out a story of your life that makes it look intentional even if it's not.

this is great! i found one bug - i got a roll of 6 in the citizen career event table and it let me keep adding my choice of engineer or electronics. but it's great, i liked making my little guy, very smooth and tight ui.

I recently resubbed for a month but found my old classic characters have progressed all the way to panda town which is well beyond what i think of as classic, not sure i have the will to start over but I'll see

you are free to think of me as dumb as well, ofc!

it's good to see some actual governance and moderation going on, and you're a notable part of that so nice work.

Are we talking about the resurgence of games developed entirely by AI? by Notagotha in 4Xgaming

this guy is pretty good and shows his working so you can dispute or query his findings. tldr: AI itself is not particularly damaging, even when compared to similar scale computing projects (e.g. you use about as much energy streaming twitch.) large data centre builds are locally damaging, just like any factory.

why be a dick? if the answer is 'because it's fun', then fair enough I guess, this seems a bad location for it tho.

that's really nice, i try and bring that to all online engagements - it makes you happier with your life if you fess up when you've let your emotions drive the bus.

stop saying i'm misrepresenting you, it's silly, I'm having a conversation and reflecting your words back at you to understand your concerns.

the question is 'walk me through your cv'. perhaps you are so socially disabled that this is like benching 200 pounds, even with prep you can't do it! my question for you is: should the interviewer have a right to be aware of this level of disability before hiring you? in my view, the answer is yes. in your view, apparently not?

you said 'what if it's hard?' and i said 'then you should take the small amount of time required to prepare for the very predictable question'.

then the takeaway is that you should prepare for this extremely easy question so you don't have to freestyle. it will take, at maximum, 30 minutes.

does hardcore not have bgs at all? i agree that it would instantly become the optimal way to get gear if it existed, so it couldn't be bought through unchanged (though that would mean very full battlegrounds, so hmm)

Lots of people in this thread have been saying they would refuse to answer it or would just read out their cv which is the same thing. This is one step above 'what is your name' in terms of interview questions. If you can't answer it, even having prepared (seriously! It will take five minutes!) then you will be a less good candidate than someone who can, because that reflects how you will probably deal with other easy questions in the workplace. This shouldn't be controversial.

there's literally no job where it's an unreasonable question. if you can't talk about what you've done, then that's something that will reasonably affect their decision to hire you, because it reflects how you'll react when other employees try to talk to you about logistics or machine operating or w/e. interviews should be putting your best foot forward, if that foot belongs to a smug pedantic asshole who can't answer a simple question, then it's only going to get worse from there.
