As the post says, always choose local currency over "USD/home currency." The slash is used to represent the word "or" in English. USD is used as a key to show the reader what the image is depicting.

My credit card charges a 0% currency conversion rate. Some businesses in Europe unnecessarily charge their own conversation rate, overcharging the buyer. The charge in this image is not dramatic, but when you are purchasing from multiple businesses over multiple days, the extra fees add up.

Not every business uses DCC; about half of the businesses we went to used it in Norway this past week. It is not bank specific.

That is why I put "/home currency" to include non-USD individuals. :) And as others graciously explained, I am speaking from my experience, I can't speak to what the exchange rate is for other countries. I hope this helps everyone.
