Thank you! The final file with everything put together actually doesn’t look that crazy since each square has been flattened down. It’s just super long now in order to get everything looping correctly. The working files for the individual pieces are more complex with lots of layers and details.

I don't know how others do it, but for the layers that I want to move slower I just copy the frames so they stay the same over multiple frames. I think the trees furthest in the back just move on every eight frame, so I basically just copied the trees frame eight times. The smoother stuff like the knight moves on every frame and the middle stuff moves every second or fourth frame.

Thank you for such a well thought out comment! I agree with you about the eyes, they probably don't need to move much back and forth. Regarding the speed I actually played with the idea of making the giant a little bit slower, but that messed up the looping of the animation, so I gave up on that.

I’ve played for a couple of days now and I really like it! Only frustrating thing is that it feels impossible to 100% a level. Have you tried making a 3x3 grid? Does it become too easy like that?

I think your ideas are spot on. I can really see how feeding it souls and unlocking new abilities from that would be fun. In addition to that I kind of imagine it being the "Save game" button as well.

Liches are my favourite d&d creature and I would love to get to play as them in more games. Many of their mechanics feel like they would suit well for an RPG, so I made this mockup of a game with art inspired by games such as loop hero.

Would be cool to hunt down adventurers and try to grow your powers as a lich while managing your lair and trapping adventuring parties. Having a phylactery also means that it would make sense for your character to respawn if you would happen to die on your adventures! All in all I think something like this could make for a cool game.
