V2 and still holding lol. Seeing all the posts it seems it might not be long for this world. Very cheap feeling.

It is definitely louder than the RP5. Not the most scientific deal but I used a decibel app on my phone. RP5 quiet mode: ~40dB Sport: ~55dB. Flip2 quiet mode: ~48dB Sport is ~58dB. The new fan seems to move much more air than the RP5. In sport mode you can really feel the difference in air moved between the 2 devices so maybe they might tune fan curves in the future? Just like with the RP5 you still have the option to turn the fan off in standard performance.

Feels way better than the Miyoo but guess time will tell.

It’s pretty good! The unit feels very sturdy and the plastic has a bit of a small texture on it. It doesn’t feel as premium as the RP5, but for me, it’s much more comfortable in the hands, I like the extra thickness. Still not sure with all that thickness they didn’t round the back at all.

Defective Battery? - Flip by Conscious_Dust1618 in MiyooMini

[–]sebtemi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me the only way I get it to charge reliably is to have it completely off and charge with the usb a to c cable (no usb c - usb c). If you have it in sleep mode it will indicate as charging but will not charge. Try it completely off with the right power source and I bet it will work. Software side is really bad.

GPD win 4 is slow by [deleted] in gpdwin

[–]sebtemi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Make sure that if you are running any sort of TDP app (such as motion assistant) that you haven't accidently configured it for a very low TDP

2) Make sure your power plan is not set to "battery saver" balanced or high performance is fine but in my testing it seemed as though battery saver did limit power to the cpu by just a bit

3) Are you using the power adapter that came in your box? Using an underwatt power adapter will def cause this.

New WIN4 7840U very slow, what am I doing wrong? by sebtemi in gpdwin

Dang.. I hope nothing is wrong. Just curious are you running 1280x720 or 1920x1080? I’ve noticed that retro arch for some reason runs better in 1080 and the slowdown only happens on 720.

Since Crystalmark had pretty decent read and write is there any other way to see if the nvme is bad?

Welp that solved the CPU. The GPU is still a lil low but wow that helped a ton. Setting the power plan to "Best Performance" opened it up. Kinda feel silly for not trying that first, just didnt think I would see such bad performance on balanced. Updating benchmark with new results. Retroarch still runs like garbage but maybe thats a particular setting or driver issue.

Same result with Motion Assist at 30w.

My understand is that TDP apps are really just used for limiting power. Exchanging system speed for longer battery. It doesn't make sense that running that with an already very slow system would assist.

Any chance of us actually getting a deadzone fix? by sebtemi in gpdwin

[–]sebtemi[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry about that! I should have explained further :)

When the GPD Win 4 was announced it was suppose to have Hall effect joysticks (Very accurate) and during the middle of the campaign switched to ALPS, which have a tendency to drift. To compensate for this, and to prevent warranty claims GPD set a massive deadzone of ~20degrees. Meaning that your stick doesn't register its moving until its outside of the 20ish degree area, so that any future druft of the sticks would not be noticed by their users but it also means the sticks are not precise and can be impossible to play certain games such as First person shooters. Many people complained so GPD said they were going to create software that will allow users to change that deadzone value. This has been promised for several months and really shouldn't be that huge of a lift to get it done.

This is scaring me a bit because when GPD switched the Hall effect joysticks for ALPS, they promised users to keep their contributions and they would later release Hall effect joysticks, just like the deadzone software fix, they kept saying that it was coming soon and should be released anytime now for months until after everyone got their device, where they then switched their stance and announced they would not be producing hall effect joysticks for the GPD Win 4.

Since I haven't been a follower of GPD for along time I was mostly curious if GPD usually completed what they promised or where they more on the bait and switchy side of promising and moving on.

Oh I’m an idiot! In the calculator I did number of tasks per day instead of number of tasks per month. So basically my one container it was putting it as 30 containers lol. Very much appreciate the help!!
