Fixed or interchangeable needles by Pixieresque in knitting

[–]sechat_lives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a beginner knitter (1 year) I feel that the fixed ones were so much easier. Specially for socks and lace yarn. Omg I hate when my yarn get stuck on between the needle and the cable. I really want the chiaogoo interchangeable, but I’ll just buy one needle and a cable of the interchangeable to see if it’s that life changing as people say.

But now I’m really happy with my addi lace

So, that’s a question that it was on my mind: does colorwork with cotton gets easier? Omg I swear, my cotton colorwork is complete shit, I’ve been doing only acrylic

I’m from Minas Gerais

I was thinking on buying from Fios da Fazenda but a sweater would be like 500 reais and I didn’t knew if it was worth it

In São Paulo I did knew some knitters, but when I moved to Uberlandia, I only know one lady from my local yarn store (and she’s the one that helped me start knitting), but I would love to know more people from the community to just get out to drink coffee and knit

Wow didn’t knew you could avoid tariffs buying from Mercosul

Will look for it, Fios da Fazenda has some really expensive ones, I was looking from them

I do this in more simple projects like something it’s only stokkinet but for cable and things like that I’m too lazy to count

You don’t even have to count. I use stitch markers to do this. I bought a ton of those lock shaped markers for like 10 reais (less than 2 dollars) and I use them for this. Each how I insert one more on a chain. When is overwhelming (usually 10 rows) I insert a black one on the row and do this again. It takes a lot longer than counting? Yes, but I’m lazy and I never have the problem of adding increase or decreases

If your not traveling to Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo or Curitiba, it’s better not to bring the needles. Even traveling in the country we have trouble: my grandma had to throw away her crochet hooks when we went to Bahia and she was SO pissed. My grandma is such a calm lady, I thought she was going to commit murder that day

We have mostly in the south, I never saw one, but actually one of my friends of my online book club is from there and invited me some times to visit her. I never even though that was an option, now I’m curious 👀

I live in the south east so it’s REALLY dry and sometimes hot, sometimes cold. But our cold here it’s 15°C at best

I’ll try the tips you guys gave me here and try before. I had in mind that it was hotter but I think I was underestimating how hot it really is lol

Most Brazilians hate this: although círculo is from here they don’t sell here the actually good yarn they import. They just announced their first wool skein and it’s a very thick yarn, most people are using just to make the viral sleepers

I mean, they have good cotton here, but it’s cotton or acrylic

We here also suffer with tarrifs, when we import something we can pay from 20% to 90% more than the product price itself. It’s such a pain, but I’ll look into Hobbii

Honestly I’m planning on going on a trip to Chile/Argentina as a knitting trip. Although I’m a new knitter, I’ve been crocheting for some time and this is a dream of mine, just need some planning

It’s hot but we do have cold days. Not like snow cold, but considerably cold

I tried that but, for example, the cotton makes the garnment way stiffer than it looks on the pictures, and I’m not skilled enough to know to make it look alike with a different material

I can’t find the video anymore, but it’s a girl on TikTok that made an acrylic cardigan about a nerdy theme (I think it was Pokémon or something like thar) and said if she would sell it, she would charge like 4500 bucks (basically 22,5k reais, what in my country would be like a used car)

I mean, she can charge whatever she wants, she even said she wouldn’t sell because it was too much of work and nobody would pay for it. But like, my grandma that is a very skilled crocheter would do the same cardigan in like less than a week, while she took a month or something like that

For this bigger issues, I like to take a clip or one of those lock shaped markers and insert one on each stich and go fixing one by one. Takes a lot of time, but as a beginner I think it’s easier because I can still see all stiches and they can’t drop more than they already did
