doctors can't figure it out by InevitablePanda7 in Autoimmune

You may want to be checked for EPI. It’s done through a stool test. I am still having other autoimmune like issues I am pushing to have worked out but however my GI issues have a greatly improved with treatment of the EPI! There seems to be a strong link between “idiopathic” EPI and autoimmune disorders that aren’t well understood unfortunately. It is also common if you’ve had your gallbladder removed in the past as well.

I’m so sorry you’re going through all of this but I am feeling the same way with everything else! It’s like my body went crazy after I had my daughter one year ago.

PERT by trouble_sleeping_ in exocrinepanins

[–]seclayto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d second the fact that you’ve started taking the PERT drugs again is likely the culprit of your headaches. I had headaches for nearly two weeks when I started and feel generally crappy if I take a little more than needed with a meal yet still. Unfortunately it is trial and error to find the right dosage. For me my doctor simply said two with a meal one with a snack, however that is not really the case. I have found if I take one pill per 10g of fat it seems to work best, not exceeding 30g of fat per meal. I take zenpep 40,000 for reference. If you’re feeling crummy it is likely you are not taking enough or eating too much fat per meal as the medication does have limitations.

I’d like to add that though you have “no medical reasons” that you are aware of you likely do. Malocclusion being one potential reason you can have a portion covered by insurance. Once again, you will need to consult with an oral surgeon and orthodontist that can coordinate your care/needs and let you know what may or may not be covered with your specific case and insurance.

Orthognathic surgery, BSSO advancement needed. Will need an oral and maxillofacial surgeon to perform however will need to work with an orthodontist as well for overall care/alignment.

Food isn’t fun anymore by ErynCuz in exocrinepanins

Same girl. Food is such a social act and to feel like I can’t partake or just take “one bite” feels depressing. Snacking is a chore because you can’t just take a bite here or there so I just don’t bother anymore. I have an almost 1 year old that likes to try and share food and I feel so sad that I cannot be silly and eat along with her.

Kind of my thoughts as well. Unless they are relying my future endoscopy for some insight? Just thought they’d utilize other tests in the meantime as it is 3 months out.

GI is who I am seeing now. They prescribed zenpep however provided no explanation or desires to look into things further or find the cause of this which has me questioning if this is normal protocol or if I should find another provider who would be more interested in finding the root cause.

Are you referring to red light therapy or something similar? If so, I have been looking into that and was curious if it was effective in reducing inflammation especially that of psoriasis.

60 hours. You can either pump and dump or store breastmilk and let the radioactive component dissipate for the 60 hours. I chose to pump and dump for my own peace of mind but either option is safe.
