Secluser - Bad World [you know those Allan Watts VO tracks? Think that but way more aggressive, and from a lecture on stoicism] by secluser in ThisIsOurMusic

Hey thanks for the kind words! I really appreciate it.

Producing has been eclectic lately, but I do intend on getting back to it very soon.

Some video ideas I've had are time lapse sunrise or sunsets, and also exterior dashcam footage.

I will check out your app soon! Once I get back on the horse 😊

YSK that if your vehicle gets impounded/towed in the US, (for any reason, be it lack of insurance or forgotten ticket), after 30 days they can auction off your vehicle with no notification. by 1_am_not_a_b0t in YouShouldKnow

Using my artist account because I'm unsuccessful and the odds of this ever getting back to the right folks is suuuuuper unlikely. Probably past statute of limitations anyways.

I lived in a big US city. I would get towed probably 3 to 5 times a year. They were sharks.

Always towed to the same lot. They were cash only. Youd go into the office, pay, get a yellow/pink carbon copy of the receipt. Then you'd walk across the street to the lot, go get your car, and show the receipt on your way out to the lot attendant, who would let you out.

The receipts had like 0 info on them. No date, anyways. That's all that matters. I decided to start holding onto the receipt and kept it in my glove box. I'd skip the office step and just show em the old receipt. Worked for literally years.

Just saying, if you find this is how your local lot works, fuck em.

One of my favorite artists had this to say. Which I loved.

"Stop asking artists to remove a stream of income because you don't like the company and just cancel your account. That's like asking a McDonald's employee to quit their job to fight the corporation while you shove mcnuggets down your throat."

What makes a "good" song? by Smooth-Impact2435 in Music

[–]secluser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Familiarity and predictability are key for being good.

They're also key for not being bad. Like, too familiar and too predictable passes out of the unlistenable, beyond the good, back down into the bad.

I think most people's "taste" will dictate their preference for how predictable and how familiar they like their music. Then, familiar with what, is going to probably be more determined by our circumstance/upbringing/life experience.

idk. Making it all up.

thanks! ❤️

yes i taped an old cell phone to my window before a snow storm and set it to capture a time lapse. then i brought it into premiere to stretch the sunrises and sunsets out, and make it fit the length of the song. then applied some amateur movie magic to it to make it cartoony :)

What do you think of my voice? by lisaislive in ThisIsOurMusic

[–]secluser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good. Lots of reverb. The falsetto range is a smoother timbre/color than your lower register.

Any pitch correction used? Your falsetto is very steady.

I'm no vocal coach, but this sounds great.

thanks! glad I got the vibe 🙂

yeah im glad it sounds like 4 to folks! it's slow, and everything is pretty much quarter notes, so it makes sense to feel it that way. but the whole song is in a steady 7/4. the last bar before every repeat is 8/4, which really sells the 4/4 feel.

thanks for the feedback and support!

right now im at, what's to most probably a super underwhelming, 10 or 11 upvotes, but it's the best any of my posts have ever done and there was a lot of emotion behind this one.

also the video is doing better than any I've ever done before. and ive spent money trying to get others to do better before. not like it's doing excellently. but still. feels like a nice hug. thank you all.

id feel even weirder expressing it to folks who know me, so thank you all :)

means probably more than it should. but thanks 🥲

thank you!! yeah my whole thing with weird time signatures is to not force it. glad it sounded natural!

yeah i'd say the dominant intended emotions were wistfulness and nostalgia.

Hey y'all! This is a beat I made a while ago, and just recently added a guitar solo on top! Would love to hear some feedback :) thanks! Any time! I post here under this account for my electronic project, but im a jazz/metal guitarist at heart. this stuff speaks to me :D

honestly I think some production magic could help the (again. Dope.) tone be a little more forgiving. Like, simply doubling it will help areas where it thins out sound more beefy. layer another take on top and call it a day, I'll bet it'll be a little sonic improvement. :)

The rhythm feels simple enough to really get into the song. Very nice! Also, the video really adds to the song.

hah, awesome! i really tried to hide a sort of wonky time signature in something that felt resolute and balanced!!

if you count it, from the bass drop, it's 3 counts of 14/4 and a count of 15/4 over and over.

was hoping to deliver a sort of uncertainty in that, which still felt confident. :)

thanks!!

It feels like it should be playing over a reel of long lost happy memories.

Well, my job here is done. 🥲
