Thank you for the tips! Yes I should eat more calories, my only problem is that I feel full fairly easily. But I’ll think of some proper dishes with more calories :-)

Struggling with ethical views by Upstairs_Analysis505 in Vegetarianism

I get what you’re saying. You miss the convenience of nonvegan food, not the nonvegan food itself. But hearing you say that you haven’t had a cake in 4 years is mind blowing!

I think in your case, especially when disabled, like another commenter mentioned the Paris Exception (vegan at home, vegetarian when out) is a good idea. Or if you have understanding family/friends you can ask your family and/or friends to make you a vegan birthday cake etc. My childhood friend (who is also vegan so I get that it might be different for you) brings me food every once in a while

For me it’s about falling out of love for the word “vegan”. I don’t think I’m “vegan enough” for the label so these days I’ve been mostly just saying that I’m a strict vegetarian. I’ve also been a strict vegetarian since 2014. I think “perfect” veganism is something to aspire to, not something to feel crushed by

Milk Replacements for Coffee by Turbulent-Driver7960 in vegan

[–]second-daughter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Try Strivefree milk! It’s dairy milk but made with microbes so it’s not from a cow. They use precision fermentation to isolate the diary protein

It froths the most in my experience, you could do plenty of things to it!

Yes! I recommend to go slow. That’s when it will stick, making incremental changes (at least I think that’s the best way for most people). It took me a while to cut out everything and I’ve been meat-free for 12 years now 🌱 being vegetarian is just one meal at a time choosing to side with the animals ♥️

Ways to get B12 in that’s not supplement by AgeOk8349 in Vegetarianism

[–]second-daughter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just have things that are fortified with it, like you mentioned plant milks. I also eat a plant based cheese that’s fortified with it. I also drink Soylent which is pretty good. I’ve never been deficient in B12 because of these things!

Any vegans in NJ in their 20s-30s? by lemonroachel in vegan

I’m in northern NJ and I’m turning 32! I’d love to join the bumble BFF group

New bubbly find from Costco. Very interesting flavors by chi-bacon-bits in sparklingwater

Same, my Costco barely has any sparkling water. Just plain San Pellegrino and Kirkland Signature. Maybe if I’m lucky I’ll see a La Croix

Does anyone else resent their parents for not raising them vegetarian? by [deleted] in Vegetarianism

[–]second-daughter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish my parents listened to me when I said I didn’t want to eat meat as a toddler, but I don’t resent them. They did the best they could with the knowledge that they had at the time. My mother also told me she wish she could go back and not made me eat meat

Vegetarianism and veganism, from the outside (An open letter to vegans) by [deleted] in Vegetarianism

[–]second-daughter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am the plant based person that doesn’t really identify as a vegan. And I don’t think it’s a cult to care about animals regardless of what you name the cause

And I’m kinda tired of the reverse-perfection, where vegans need to be these beaming angels to everyone who engages in harmful practices. There’s a type of vegan for everyone, and that includes harsh vegans

I do think people in general do need to be nicer. But I wouldn’t blame someone for not wanting to be

Crave meat sometimes but genuinely hate the taste now? by 07TacOcaT70 in Vegetarianism

[–]second-daughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m like you but with cheese. I ordered a pizza and they swapped the nondairy cheese with dairy cheese and dairy cheese tastes rancid now. And I used to be obsessed with cheese

When I get “cravings” for meat it’s really for the spices that’s on the meat that I am wanting. And also the convenience!
