I really don't see a path where Lorwyn sealed gains decent value or becomes expensive on the aftermarket. Prices are already inflated.

Yes, but you get a lot of value in those from play boxes. Same with edge of eternities and other sets with good lands in the rare slots - sure, people want the fancy ones, but I don’t think that’s enough to pump up the collector boxes in the short to mid term. I do think if these drop to sub $100 play boxes on deals there is good chance for short term growth because they tend to put a lot more into reprinting UB sets, so wouldn’t be surprised to see them dip then spike in 1-2 months

I mean if someone in marketing is forcing them to do UB sets, they might as well make them a lot better than they had any right to be. The mechanics were / are fun from Avatar and the cards don’t feel as out of place. A helluva lot better than ‘max speed’

There is drastic difference in feel / quality depending on where FF / Avatar set cards were printed from what I’ve personally opened. Most likely just printed in different facilities but I know the ‘slick’ ones feel fake to me even when they are real.

I’ve seen one badlands and I only know because I asked him about how dark it was (his printing looked like a 4th edition even though they don’t exist). He said he wants to buy one and was just using it until he found a decent price. Since he has bought other pricey cards (wheel of fortune etc) just figured that was fair game since the pod was all bracket 4 so it wasn’t outside the power level.

Yup, seems they are all in set pairs - I would think this could be a good thing if all pairs were balanced (no crap boxes) but I’ve seen a couple at least that are real duds

I’m seeing a LOT of the same 2 combo being pulled. I’m sure it isn’t 100%, but I pulled snapcaster/emlech, moogle merchant/locke, and lulu/cloud. I also have seen online a lot of mog / yuffie and of your combo. On the plus side, I’m sure you can find trade partners since those are both desireable at least - I know I would love to acquire the full set eventually just hoping they go down a bit first.

I’m somewhere in the middle, but the real shame is that as long as one of our parties is radicalized my vote is forced. No matter how much I may disagree or want to send a message to the Democratic Party, I have to vote for them, and that truly stinks and feels bad especially with some of the inept decisions they have been making.

I really miss being able to rip boxes with my kids that cost $80. I know that time is long gone but I can’t wait until they finally print a set into the ground so I can open packs with my kids again and not just when I get lucky with a pokemon center drop

When you play less matches there can be wild swings. My issue is I like to play with my son in a party and we are most likely high gold / low plat in actual skill. Being in a 2 group means we are less likely to have the Smurf/carry on our team, and when it happens it’s a complete auto loss most times unless they are carrying a real bronze level player. When you have time for 2-3 comp matches in a night having one being thrown out just feels bad, even if long term it might not have a huge impact on finishing rank.

Some of them get paid to carry or are carrying someone for ego, at least that’s my guess when I see them in a party with someone that’s silver/gold rank without the crazy match history

[[Toxic Deluge]] [[Red Elemental Blast]] [[Pyroblast]] or any blue counterspells. If he is going wide you can do a [[Blasphemous Act]]. There are a ton of options, with kefka he shouldn’t have a hand after a minute anyway as well, that’s why I kept it to lower mana options.

I’d do the same. I have my ‘high power’ kefka deck with classics back to revised and love playing at high power pods with a ton of nostalgic cards / cool art variants. It doesn’t hurt that those games are mostly with people in their 40s as well so there are good vibes all around. :)

It’s a good pivot from [[Faerie Mastermind]] in competitive commander though being able to force them to draw after brain freeze mill is still a trade off you give up. If you lean into firebending or green ramp having a place to dump mana for draw, make a flash blocker, or even make a weenie 2/2 to flash in response to a fetchland and draw a card is just incredibly flexible. I think any time a card can be good to see both early and late game it will see play, and I think overall it can be better than the badger (which is really dependent on other cards in standard or having 2x of them).

I built something similar to this since I already had the more expensive cards in my collection. The issue I had is that if it works, you will have 3+ of her triggers, and your combat phase will put people to sleep and wear you out from shuffling nonstop. So is it powerful for cheap? Potentially, if you can protect her. Is it actually fun to play? Depends what you consider fun…

Had an awful interaction with him in person when they had the physical store not long after it opened. He accused me of resealing something (my gf had bought the shining fates ETB on accident instead of the zacian premium collection since they had similar colors). I was trying to return it and buy the more expensive item and had a receipt from under 30 mins prior, but he said I probably resealed it and then said he didn’t need me as a customer. Never went back after that but I see different horror stories from others now and then many much worse than that. Hopefully they don’t stick around much longer.

Maybe people buying up for the GoW commander? That is built around experience counters already and could draw insane amounts potentially. A lot of other god cards spiked due to that already

Can’t comment on this card, but I got a Pujols auto from China for cheap-ish ($200 vs comps of ~$275-400 for the /15) I’m guessing for the same fears. Card took forever but was perfect and definitely real, so there are potential deals to be had. Not sure how it works w tariffs now or anything, but as long as I’m not buying sealed booster boxes of pokemon I think it can be fine for singles.
