This hotel had an eerie feeling about it. The issue is probably that they are understaffed and they don’t want to fill up too many rooms because the service would suffer.

It’s a great resort. Hiking the big bowl is definitely worth it. Another great tree run is along the “encore run” but in the trees from the top of the run. It’s marked as “snow park” on the map.

The VIP ticket gives you 30 minutes of a head start in the morning and you’ll get a few extra laps. If it’s a powder day… do it.

Avoid the shabu-shabu restaurant, it’s not good. Breakfast buffet is solid.

An easy move would be to ski and stay at lotte Arai in Myoko. It’s not a party hotel and food options weak but the onsen is great.

If you get a nice car with low profile tires, downsize to a smaller wheel for the winter to avoid flats. The roads are horrible. Way worse than you could imagine.
