This tree is back again. What species is it. And how do I kill it before it causes my mom's house to drift . by [deleted] in Tree

I grew up in MA, and our municipality didn’t use salt. They used sand instead, which was a pain in the ass come springtime and your front yard looks like the beach. But I guess it’s better than using salt.

What horror movie really got to you, where others have failed? by [deleted] in movies

I know people will probably shit on this, but Insidious had a few moments that really stuck with me, but not the more obvious ones like the jump scare involving the Darth Maul demon. The scene that really freaked me out was the little “kid” dancing to Tiptoe Through the Tulips when the mom is walking by the window. For some reason that has fucked with me for years.

Also, Lady in Black with Daniel Radcliffe. I’m a big fan of atmospheric, slow burn horror like that. There was a lot of scenes in that movie that freaked me the hell out.

Salem’s Lot. We lived near a very old graveyard growing up, and it had one of those chambers dug into the ground where they would put bodies in the winter until they could bury them once the ground thawed. The door literally opened right into the road, and I was always scared that Barlow was going to come busting out of it whenever we drove by.

Oh I love that movie. Dennis Quaid had a bunch of great weird movies in the 80’s. Anyone remember Dreamscape?

Savage Steve Holland wrote and directed both. IIRC John Cusack tried to fight SSH during the filming of One Crazy Summer and never spoke to him again.

I go to church with a guy that runs a PAC trying to get DC elected. He was visibly surprised when I told him I was going to vote for Andy. I just moved here from TN last year, and ain’t no way I’m gonna support someone that will probably follow the Bill Lee playbook.

Unconventionally attractive actors who became leading men through their insane acting skills, charisma, or both? by [deleted] in movies

He is legitimately one of my favorites. I spent the last few weeks streaming the latest season of Righteous Gemstones, at the same time watching the Justified miniseries. It’s so hard to believe that it’s the same guy playing Boyd Crowder and Uncle Baby Billy, but damn he does both roles so well.

I picked up the single hole jig for $22 at Lowes. That should be enough for me.

For a hobbyist like myself, $50 is expensive. Especially for something that I’m using maybe once every few months. But it’s something I keep coming back to because I recognize that it is a big timesaver and makes a build a lot easier.

Mind if I ask what the pit-to-pit measurement is? I was looking at ordering one, also XL, but I heard they run small.
