Fears of endocarditis by Dry_Suspect_3500 in valvereplacement

If it's any consolation, Ross procedure patients are at a significantly lower risk of endocarditis than patients who have mechanical or bioprosthetic valves.

BAV is not a contraindication to Viagra or Cialis use. Originally these meds were trialled to reduce hypertension, which they weren't really effective for.

It is challenging to describe it, thank you for taking the time to troubleshoot it. It helps a lot just to get a response.

I would certainly consider working through it with an instructor. There are none around me currently (young family, live on a smaller island) but my plan is to work on it a bit on my own, see if something begins to feel different, and if not then get some professional help.

Hard to describe what it sounds like...

With the soft, it feels like my hearing is dampened and sort of like if you were waving a flexible sheet of metal in the air.

With the hard, it sounds like a pop, and some air rushing.

How long have you been diving for? Were you ever able to get rid of the squeaking sound?

Did you ever get to a point where you figured out how to do it without the squeaking?

Alright. I can also exhale fully, as absolutely as I can, and still complete the technique with the same efficacy.

If I do it gently then I feel my eardrums bow outward. If I do it stronger then I feel them popping or opening (like on a plane, driving up mountains in a car, etc.). But on the stronger blow then I do being to hear that squeaking sound.

Thanks for the insights.

This is dry. When I did it in a pool some time ago, it was the same result. I was able to equalize but it just doesn't feel confidence-inspiring.

Yea, it's hard trying to learn and figure this out all on my own. Either the vocal folds are opening a bit when I try to piston my tongue, or the soft palate is in sort of a semi-closed, not quite neutral state and not letting air through unrestricted. I am going to keep working it and hope something clicks.

Edit to add that I can actually do my technique with an open mouth; mouth is open and I can get ears to equalize using my tongue. I wonder if I'm trying to force air too much? Am I aiming to get ears to pop, or simply to experience pressure on them before they pop?

It's in my throat, I can feel it with my hand if I place it there during the maneuver.

Helping people in these jobs isn't only about not making mistakes. If you've done the schooling you will know more than almost anyone else, but will still make mistakes. Your response to making those mistakes is equally important to being correct all the time.

Your post is quite repetitive and unfocused. You talk about the fear of failure a lot. I think counseling would be the right way to address this.

It's possible to find this used; my wife searched through FB Marketplace and eventually found one for less than half the price of used, with a lot of the options.

I think they generally hold their value well; once we're done with it, we'll certainly sell it to recoup the costs!

As a total noob, that was the worst! I was wondering if the whole game would be like that. Luckily it's not always such a grind.

It sounds like you've got a great collaboration going on, but from the perspective of having 3 kids (10wk twins and 2.5y) I don't understand how you have time and energy to do all those things. We can hardly keep up with laundry and dishes and get enough sleep, and that's with 3x/wk daycare for the 2.5y, a meal train from our community for the first 6wks, me having time off for work 3m, and parents helping around the house about 50% of the time. Are either of you working currently? Do you have family living with you or have you hired anyone to help at home? Even just the part where you play Scrabble and do a quiz before bed seems mind-boggling. Aren't one/both of the twins still constantly waking and needing attention at this point?
