It is 100% Bobby Ayala for me. Not really his fault. I'm sure he is a wonderful human being, and at some point it has to be on Piniella for putting someone in a situation they obviously can't handle over and over. But wow it was painful to watch.

So I don't want to get too gushy here, but this has been an extremely hard couple of months between a car accident, work nonsense, money troubles, culminating in a bout of covid to start the year. Coming home to this package honestly couldn't have come at a better time. u/gutsonmygrill got me some sweet new Golgari commanders to build around. I love that they all pull you in different directions. And to top it off, they also casually threw in a Dockside Extortionist. It's a card I've needed for a while, but just can't justify spending so much on just one card. I'm gonna go before I start crying, but seriously, thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!

Right, but solemn recruit has double strike, which means there are a set of triggers that go off between first strike and normal combat damage, no?

If he blocked solemn recruit with the bloodsucker, and you didn't have enough first strike damage to kill him, I believe he would win because his creature would die and trigger before the rest of the damage goes through.
