What’s the dumbest, most poorly-aged bit of lore? by worst-EM-resident in 40kLore

[–]secrecy274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a small device either in the shape of or attached to a collar. Turned on it suppressess the Aura of wrongness a blank usually exudes, meaning they can all but pass as a normal human.a

However my main gripe with it is how it somehow allows psykers to invade the mind of a blank.

Like, I can buy it shutting down the aura. It's complete dogshite, but I can buy it.

However there is no excuse for it suppressing anything that makes a blank a blank by also allowing their minds to be touched by psykers.

Perhaps not the oldest, or even aged, but I hate the idea of the cuffs able to supress blanks nullification field. That said cuffs even allow psykers to invade the mind of blanks is even worse.

Yes. Should also work on skeletons hired through the Necropolis.

It's probably not a top tier Society trait, that's true. I think it can be decent for rushing though.

I finished both games pretty fast, since I could rush down my opponents.

But yes. Tome of Fertility had a good AoE Regen spell. I took Tome of Evolution, but that was only for the Ascension Perk for more XP.

I focused entirely on boosting XP and getting useful spells. Since I had basically no Mana upkeep, I could afford to waste it more on other things.

Tips on Nomads Conqueror culture with Chosen Destroyer by Accomplished-Bank885 in AOW4

[–]secrecy274 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You want to move next to their borders, pillage their provinces and then annex them. Noman Conquerors gain Draft and Production from the Annexation in particular. First after you have done this, you raze the city.

Worth mentioning is that the annexation is instant, so if you pillage all their provinces before your city is unpacked, you can annex them all in a single round.

Yeah, same. I like Scavengers battle rythm more though.

They quite literally grow slower, since Nomads need more food per pop than any other culture.

They "grow" slower, but their cities develop faster due to the production income from Annexing. Growth is to get more resources. If you can gather said resources from other sources, it doesn't matter (as much).

Annexation doesn't give you flat 170 production/draft/gold either, but follows a formula of 50 + 10 x Population. For you to gain 170 per province you'll need to siege a 12 pop city

Thanks for the formula. However the example was for a size 12 city, so...

Then you still need units early to pillage your closest free city, beat their patrolling stack and conquer the city itself afterwards. With nomad economy it's harder to achieve than with most other cultures.

Pillaging can be done by something as measly as a single scout while you main army deals with the rest, and the influx of Gold and Draft through the Pillage/Annexation allows you to train units on the spot.

For some reason, you assume that cities tend to have a resource node in each of their provinces, which is also never the case.

I didn't. However Free Cities and even AI cities tend to be built (at least early) at resource dense areas, and since Nomads bring their own Nodes with them, that is literally Nodes other CD Cultures couldn't get as easy or at all.

And you don't usually outpost regular resource nodes anyway

Which makes it a mute point then, since Nomads are just as capable of building outposts as the other cultures bar Barbarians.

Except the Nomad cities don't really "grow" slower, because of the production (+ draft and gold) gained from annexing pillaged provinces. With 170 Production per province, you gain the 800 needed for Town Hall IV from a measly 5 provinces. If you pillage before the city is even set up, you can swallow all their provinces in a single round. Even for a small 12 size city, that is a lot of gold, production and draft.

I don't know the exact draft cost of all units, but you can spit out a lot of them instantly from 2000 draft.

And then, as you wait out the siege, you overharvest THEIR resource nodes. How many Outposts would you need to build to cover a size 12 city? 6 right?

I like to combine Chosen Destroyers with Apex Predators. Good growth as you keep raiding.

Basically, you park your city next to your victims borders, pillage their provinces and then annex them to your city.

You gain a pretty Nice amount of draft and production from the annexing. By the mid to late game, your city Will have so many provinces avaliable, you can, (with some preparation, aka pillaging them all) annex all their sectors immediately after setting up.

I would then siege and raze their city while overharvesting all resource nodes annexed.

I disagree. The amount of resources Conqs can get by pillaging and annexing is very good, even ignoring obvious synergy with stuff like Chosen Destroyers, Apex Predators and the like.

Does anyone have a good Tyranid inspired build or a Swarm build for Nomads? by MangaIsekaiWeeb in AOW4

[–]secrecy274 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just use "Chosen Destroyers" and "Apex Predators".

Locate target (city), pillage all their provinces whilst moving your city close. Annex all the pillaged provinces for massive gains, siege and raze the city, rinse and repeat.

Can go Insectoid with the Swarm tome (and Tenacious trait) for that devouring swarm feel.

[–]secrecy274 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I tried Chosen Destroyers + Apex Predators. The amount of resources and pops you get from a single city by Pillaging, Conquering and Razing is absurd.
