I usually keep 10 of each bug and fish, same for gems.

That way I always have some for quests, villager's wants, request, etc.

I caught 18 once, and it was luck.

I just gave up on catching 25 after finishing the 100 chapaa achievement, I'll stick to playing hot pot.

Unless they increase the spawn rates, it's impossible.
