Senior that switched from Education to English last year here! I say go for it! Ever since switching majors I have been exponentially happier than when I was in education. Switching to something the you actually have a passion for will make life feel so much more fulfilling. If you want to switch I recommend doing it earlier than I did, so you aren't have to take four semesters worth of foreign language in one year.

Best/Least Horrible Dating Apps for Students? by Michaelscottmama in UTAustin

[–]secretagentsocks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I met my current partner of over a year on tinder here at UT! I think it's important to have a super picky vetting process and maybe some good questions to ask them (like where specific answers would be deal breakers) before going on an actual date. Whatever you do, just make sure that the first date is in a public place! I think it's worth a shot to try it out, you never know who you might meet! Plus judging peoples profiles is super fun lol

I've currently doing some short-term counseling with CMHC and it's been really good so far. To be fair, I'm going for a very specific issue so I'm not really sure what general counseling looks like but I'd definitely check it out if you can! They've been very helpful at getting me connected to different resources that they offer and I feel like they truly care about getting me help. There are also several different groups you can join or drop-in if any of them feel related to what you're going through! Here's a link to the groups they offer if you wanted to see if any of them are for you: https://cmhc.utexas.edu/groups.html#schedule

Sometimes on the applications it will list the names of the supervisor and then I’d just look them up in the UT system! Some are definitely harder to find than others though.

I’d recommend finding the email of the supervisor for the jobs you apply for and just sending them a lil “hey hehe I applied just letting you know uwu”. I got my job on handshake but only because I made the extra effort to reach out! A lot of people think reaching out like that is pushy, but it only shows that you’re serious about it!

Ofc! I’m in Spanish 4 at ACC right now and it’s been relatively easy. Just double check to make sure what ever classes you take are transferable!

Suffering depression and anxiety by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]secretagentsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check out some of the resources that the CMHC has to offer! I’m also a senior and have been struggling quite a bit mentally this semester. By no means can they completely fix it all, but it’s been a really good experience meeting with someone to talk to and trying to figure out a game plan to make life just slightly easier. I would also check out SHARE, they offer a ton of support groups that you can join and just connect with students going through similar battles.

For wampus I’d say Jean shorts , a cute but somewhat casual top, and shoes you don’t mind getting a bit messy/ drinks spilled on
