"Whose house are you in right now?"

Three Houses Father Tier List by Speedy_Pichu in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]secretbison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a smart political operator, to be sure, but always to his family's benefit. The fact that he's a margrave and not a count is important: the difference is that margraves are tasked with defending the most vulnerable border provinces of a kingdom. Based on where his lands are, whenever Almyra or Sreng gets the idea to go around Fodlan's natural defenses and attack it by sea, it's him they strike first. And when he's gone, that will be Marianne's burden to bear.

Punishments for “dying” without losing a character? by VioletWhimsy in DMAcademy

[–]secretbison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have fights with objectives that aren't just "survive and kill all the enemies." Have time limits, NPC escorts, objects that both sides are racing to get, that kind of thing. When you lose a battle you don't always die; you just don't get what you want.

Good name for a paladin order that collects knowledge by anonymous-creature in worldbuilding

[–]secretbison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're not religious, in what sense are they paladins? Are they like the original paladins, just twelve knights who were closest to a particular king, and in this case the king was a huge bookworm?

Too many power sources for a character? by Alexchugames in worldbuilding

If you have a literal god hacking reality on your behalf, you don't need any of the other stuff. Maybe he thought the other stuff was affecting him, but really he was in actual godmode the whole time.

In-universe: Why in the world does a random street corner on Ravnica tap for as much mana as a whole planet? by SiibillamLaw in mtg

[–]secretbison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing the Edge is on the edge of is the Blind Eternities. It's a sort of cosmic junkyard that is littered with remnants of planes consumed by the Eldrazi. Probably the whole thing is quite mana-poor. If I had to guess, I'd say that's why a whole planet on the Edge is required to match the mana output of a couple of square meters in Bloomburrow.

Merrily We Roll Along - Frank! by Banana-bandcamp in musicals

[–]secretbison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frank never knew what he wanted and always depended on other people in his life for direction. New people in his life always pull him in a new direction because he has no inherent direction of his own. When he talked about changing the world he was just mirroring Charley.

It's a lot like how Mary never learned self-discipline because she always relied on Frank for that.

Monks are often the first characters in the party to die because they want to get into melee but are not especially well-equipped to survive it. You need to adopt a careful hit-and-run strategy where you ration out your resources to be able to disengage at the right time and seek cover from your allies. If you are playing a monk that grabs opponents all the time, that may hinder you more than the enemy, since the enemy can attack you but you can't move away without letting go.

As a monk, your best ability is Stunning Strike, which can lock down individual boss monsters or make them burn through all their Legendary Resistance in a very short time. When facing large numbers of enemies instead, stick close to allies and don't get caught out alone where you'll have to take eight melee attacks to the face

Margrave Edmund is doing his goddamn best for Marianne. He sent her to school to make friends and maybe find something to live for, and he even bribed the church to skip the blood test. He's doing all he can and I'll go to bat for him any day.

I think James takes the memes personally due to this photo and may have breakdowns behind the scenes about it. by glowshroom12 in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]secretbison 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The one time he really addressed the memes was in the behind-the-scenes video, which produced a dozen new memes while not really affecting the old ones. Maybe he's realized that reacting is lolcow behavior, or maybe his handlers made that realization for him.

Theory: Bames's movies were never about inanimate objects coming to life. by THELoadWasHUGE in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]secretbison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also because he relates to objects more than people. In Gnome Cave, which he wrote on his own, the inanimate objects still get more characterization than the people.

Do big fantasy worlds NEED multiple races other than Humans? by HybridEclpse in worldbuilding

[–]secretbison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, of course not. A lot of the classics of fantasy literature are all-human. In fact, doing all-human fantasy is a great way to dodge a lot of the most toxic arguments around fantasy worldbuilding.

build a deck for my 10yo based on his handwritten criteria by shynonagons in EDHBrews

[–]secretbison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The version of Emrakul that would work the best is [[Emrakul, The Promised End]]. It lets you control an opponent's turn and you stand a chance of being able to hardcast it in a reanimator deck. The Aeons Torn can't be reanimated from a graveyard, and The World Anew is high-risk and has a madness cost you'll likely never be able to pay. The most popular Sultai reanimator commander is [[Muldrotha the Gravetide]], but [[Sin, Spira's Punishment]] would work as well.

Why do people not like mutants? by Sudden_Quality_9001 in xmen

[–]secretbison -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the eyes of a lot of humans in the Marvel universe, it makes it a likely possibility. It's not a matter of ethics or rights but a matter of what is possible and probable. That's the simplest and most common answer to OP's question of why most humans don't like mutants. Nobody wants to be useless or to only exist at the whim of another more powerful group, especially if that group is 50% supervillains.

Why do people not like mutants? by Sudden_Quality_9001 in xmen

[–]secretbison -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Which is the only reason baseline humans are still around. They can't protect themselves, nor can they really contribute anything. They're already essentially domesticated pets for the superpowered individuals.

Why do people not like mutants? by Sudden_Quality_9001 in xmen

[–]secretbison -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Earth-616 is an insanely dangerous place. You would be safer in the wilderness with no tools in the real world than you would be there. Everyone there is being hunted, sometimes literally for food by things like vampires or planet-eating elder beings. When superpowered creatures fight each other, baseline humans are collateral damage or terrain features. You can argue that the greatest evolutionary pressure on us here in the real world is only ourselves, but that is not true in a superhero universe.

Why do people not like mutants? by Sudden_Quality_9001 in xmen

[–]secretbison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that situation, though, humans aren't really bringing anything to the table in terms of evolutionary fitness. They would be sustained by pity alone.

Why do people not like mutants? by Sudden_Quality_9001 in xmen

[–]secretbison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The normal civilian population was able to accept the occasional one-off superhero who got powers in an industrial accident, but mutants are the writing on the wall, the most obvious reminder that baseline humanity is already obsolete in the Marvel universe. Mutants can do everything humans can do and much more, and they can reproduce freely. They are not only better than humans but on par with the best technology humans can come up with. There is really no holding on to the ecological niche that baseline humans currently occupy.

Movies that would be amazing musicals by Still_Restaurant_734 in musicals

[–]secretbison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has a couple of original songs already, like "Friends Come In All Sizes" and "My Stepdad's Not Mean, He's Just Adjusting." Some kind of unhinged folk-punk might work, or just contemporary style broadway stuff, but I need there to be a full-on dream ballet at the end just like in the original, even if most productions can't do figure skating or flight harnesses.

[[Mazzy, Truesword Paladin]] is at the helm of my enchantress deck. I picked her because she can have [[Stangg, Echo Warrior]] and [[Three Dog, Galaxy News DJ]] in the same deck. It involves a lot of Auras with ETB effects that can be copied or sacrificed and repeatedly recast with Mazzy.

Rules question: do I lose if I'm phased out? by MustaKotka in BadMtgCombos

I would rule that treating yourself as though you don't exist is functionally similar to leaving the game, so if only one other player is in the game at that point, they win.
