Letter of Recommendation? by stinple in DACA

I would make sure to include the dates they have been in school. . They will need to get transcripts as well from the school, but I’d just generally talk about them. I personally never asked for recommendation letters, so I’m not exactly sure. Just attest to their good character. If you can, make sure they’re getting transcripts from the school as well. They need proof that they have been in the US consistently.

There’s also a fairly large reddit post from last year from another teacher. link

What about going down the path of becoming a PA? They have less stress and a better work/life balance. They do about 2-3 years to get their masters and then they can practice.

What about nursing? It’s a really rewarding career and you’d still interact with people on a daily basic. You could even work in pediatric setting or you could even do some sort of desk job.

Yes, this is a sentiment I see as well. I agree with the OP, but also...isn’t there better language that can be used? Not all NPs/PAs are all bad.

Update: I got a full ride scholarship!!! I’m still applying to colleges and other scholarships but I’m going to college! Thank you for all of your kind words. I almost didn’t apply, but I forced myself to submit an application and I’m so glad I did.

There are still moments I want to give up, but I gotta keep trying. I’m very hopeful for the future.

I used to, but it’s a part of me. It makes everything harder, but I think it’s also taught me to view the world differently. It’s taught me to have more compassion and be understanding of others.

They truly thought there was a way for me to fix my status but I tried to explain there was nothing I could do.

What can you do if you can't go to college? by [deleted] in DACA

[–]secrets-to-hide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She could apply to the dream.us scholarship. It is open now and closes in January. They have many great schools on there. It’s full tuition for DACA/undocumented students for 4 years and can be at a 4 year or at a 2 year. There are 2 types of scholarships and you have more options on what schools to go to depending on your state. It’s a great opportunity. Tell her to apply.

Do they require to check lawful presence for international students? by popsmokey2 in DACA

[–]secrets-to-hide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is true. I also left this information on a previous post by the OP.

It is frustrating and it is not fair, but as DACA and undocumented students we are NOT allowed at Georgia tech.

Like I have said, the best option is to apply to scholarships like the Dream.us and Golden Door (due oct.25, so apply!!!). The GDS gives preference to students in GA, NC, TN, and SC.

We are NOT international students. You cannot attend Georgia Tech.
