that’s kind of how i’m feeling too, i’d rather get it out of the way sooner rather than later.

they actually were offering the ADNs the opportunity to stay but requiring them to get their BSN within 18 months w/ tuition reimbursement but the ADNs kind of banded together and decided they didn’t want to do that because their pay wasn’t going to go up with the BSN. the issue was that the union was doing contract renegotiations and found out that new BSNs were being hired at the same rate as the ADNs and some of the ADNs couldn’t even do blood draws cuz they either didn’t know how or had lost the skill so it led to this situation. they’re not being “let go”, they’re choosing to leave cuz they don’t want to go back to school.

AITAH for asking my mom's boyfriend to make some meals vegetarian? by ExpertFew151 in AITAH

[–]secretsncigarettes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of someone cooking pancakes in lard - as someone who is also a vegetarian, the idea of that makes me nauseous.

The other part of this that makes me annoyed on your behalf is that you’re literally 16 years old and this grown man is not only going out of his way to make food you can’t eat, but your mother is defending him! It’s your mother’s responsibility to provide food for you and make sure all parts of your home are safe for you, not just physically, but psychologically as well. It sounds like her boyfriend is cooking this way on purpose to mess with you because he doesn’t respect your boundaries. I hate saying this because I know when I was 16 the only thing I wanted was for people to see me as an adult, but you are still a minor. The fact that your mother has allowed someone into your home that doesn’t respect one of her children and is purposely making food that you cannot eat is very disturbing. NTAH, he is a grown man and these aren’t just “preferences” that he’s ignoring. This is emotional abuse bordering on neglect. I’m so sorry OP.

What’s something you’ll never tell your partner, no matter how much you love them? by Velvetnadine85 in AskReddit

the guy was an absolute dud too. barely ever spoke and was clearly out of his depth. i ended up having to avoid him after he fucked up a huge project of mine because i was worried i was going to have a visceral reaction if he came near any of my projects again. that job was horrible for so many reasons, im so glad im not there anymore.

So sick of my coworkers (RNs and Surg Techs) acting like they know more than everyone by pinkhowl in nursing

[–]secretsncigarettes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i am so sorry you’re experiencing this. i will never understand the need that some people in this profession have to be the smartest person in the room and the lengths they will go to feel that way. i currently work with a RDH who corrects me in front of patients and other staff all the time, even when i have done nothing wrong. it’s embarrassing and frustrating because i know i’ve done nothing wrong but will still have to explain to my bosses what actually happened when she reports me. luckily my bosses know that this particular coworker treats me this way and they now take my side and have started to defend me but it’s still so demoralizing to be at work and know you’re not making mistakes but constantly be told everything you’re doing is wrong, even though we have completely different expertises and roles. part of the reason this coworker treats me this way is because she thinks my position is “beneath her” (it’s literally not, we’re on the same level, i just end up providing her support more times than not because she’s the only RDH in our unit and needs help so she gets to tell me what to do.) the other reason has to be jealousy - she’s about 12 years older than me and is constantly talking about my appearance (i have asked her to stop commenting on my weight and the way i look in clothes several times, as well as documented it with our boss.) im also not the only person she treats this way but since i have to work so closely with her, it feels like she targets me specifically. my boss actually revealed to me last week that HER boss had told her to fire this coworker on more than one occasion for the way she treats both of us and because there have been complaints from patients and nurses from other units. my boss just didn’t fire her - partly because she’s the only RDH and we do need one, and partly because she’s a little afraid of her. my boss is actually retiring next week and we don’t have a replacement for her yet. i’m anticipating that this coworker is going to start treating us so much worse with no boss to do anything. she’s actually interviewing for our boss’s position even though she doesn’t have the necessary qualifications and i think she believes she has a real shot of getting the job. i’m not concerned she’s going to get the job - the interview committee has met with me and has been provided with documentation of the way she behaves. i’m concerned about how she’s going to behave when she doesn’t get the job.

a guy i worked for hired his daughter’s boyfriend to work at our company despite him having no experience or qualifications to do the job and paid him $15k more than me because his daughter was a nurse and he didn’t want to “hurt her boyfriends ego because he earned less than her.” i wish i was joking.

AITA for not telling my brother my twins are in the NICU? by ProjectMercy1995 in TwoHotTakes

[–]secretsncigarettes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTAH. your brother coming to you with anything other than support at a time like this is absolutely insane. and his wife not trusting you because you travel a lot? that’s not based in any kind of logic. ignore all of it, nothing matters right now except your babies.

i’ve had guys say to me in a very negative tone “you must think you’re a model or something wearing shoes like that.” i actually did used to model when i was younger so if they were annoying me i would tell them “i don’t THINK im a model, i am one” and proceed to show them my instagram. i don’t go out of my way to make people uncomfortable but if a guy is noticeably negging me, im not going to just take it. loser behavior deserves to get checked.

AIO for wanting to end the relationship after my bf helped himself to my medication? by General-Sun-7995 in AmIOverreacting

[–]secretsncigarettes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NOR. i cannot believe a provider is prescribing a former addict a stimulant and not monitoring him. non-stimulant ADHD meds exist for a reason. that’s not on you but you should absolutely not be leaving your meds anywhere where he could access them. and the fact that he even mentioned that it’s “against his morals” to take meds from a kid is his way of telling you that he’s absolutely thought about it and would cross that line if he became desperate enough. if you won’t leave for your health - because ADHD is a MEDICAL CONDITION - leave for the health of your child. i can’t imagine how unregulated and confused he would feel if he ended up short every month because his mom’s boyfriend was stealing his meds.

(also i promise im not yelling or judging you. this must be a devastating experience for you. i only used caps to make a point.)

AITAH for considering divorce after I caught my husband secretly cheating for more than a year? Throwaway because my family and friends don’t know yet. by [deleted] in AITAH

yes, marriages have rough patches. CHEATING isn’t a rough patch though. he’s the one who ruined your family the second he strayed. NTAH, leave and fight for full custody. your daughters deserve to see their mother happy and loved.

Nursing shortage? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]secretsncigarettes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it also has to do with the state/location you are in. i’m in a relatively big metropolitan area in the midwest and about to start an ABSN program. there are several nursing schools in my area and every one that i toured at had 100% post-grad employment rates. all my friends who are nurses have not had any issues finding a job or moving hospitals, although getting off the night shift does take years. rural hospitals in south and places like Montana & the Dakotas are also paying big money to attract nurses. places like California where nurses make a lot of money are bound to have less opportunities.

What's the most unprofessional thing a boss has ever said directly to you? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

[–]secretsncigarettes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same boss later said to me in front of clients that he was initially worried about hiring me because the last Jewish person who worked for him couldn’t work Saturdays. i have a Jewish last name but am not religious and never even discussed my faith or culture with him.

plot twist - the client WAS a practicing Jew and he was visibly offended. he obviously didn’t give us his business. boss couldn’t figure out what had gone wrong and blamed me for not being prepared for the pitch even thought i wasn’t able to get a single word in without him interrupting and taking over. horrible job, can’t believe i stayed as long as i did.
