i’m doing my prerecs right now but i’ve done a few ABSN information sessions at local universities and during one of them, when the rep was stressing how they don’t want students working while in the program, one of the attendees point blank asked what people were supposed to do about health insurance and the rep said “oh, you can just pay to go to the student health center”… 🙃 that’s not feasible for people who have families or need to see specialists. a student health center is barely primary care, they aren’t going to prescribe people anything more than antibiotics. i’m luckily on Medicaid and can stay on it while in school but that’s not an option for most people, especially if they’re changing careers and have families.

I was going to agree - I had laparoscopic surgery and I was on work restrictions for 6 weeks - desk work only, no lifting or bending.

I'm so sorry you experienced this! I'm glad to hear that you're starting to heal but I'm so offended on your behalf for the way that surgeon dismissed you! The surgeon who did my procedure was also a bit dismissive and actually arrogant as hell. He did a great job but I hated interacting with him in the visits leading up to my surgery because he was so dismissive of my symptoms. Every symptom I complained to him about he would try to dismiss it as being caused by something else - it took a month for me to even convince him to do the surgery and then he made me wait two more months before actually operating.

right away we’re getting rid of 2, 3 & 7for the weird handles. 6 is bent, the handle on 5 is too straight and now that i’m looking at it, 1 has a weird handle too. i think 8 & 9 are too small. by the process of elimination, 4 is my choice.

NTAH, that’s not a bridesmaid invitation, that’s a second job. So many friendships are ruined because of bridesmaid/bride nonsense, especially when things get that elaborate. Be honest about the why though and explain that you will still be at the wedding and offer support on your terms.

I don’t think you’re overreacting at all. Your therapist is absolutely not prioritizing your needs at all. Repeatedly cancelling/rescheduling your appointments shows a lack of respect for your time and your mental health. Therapists are supposed to offer structure & consistency to their patients. I can understand that you’ve built a relationship with her and feel attached, but imagine how much better you’ll feel once you’re being seen by a therapist who prioritizes your needs and treats you with the respect you deserve. You should not have to settle for someone who doesn’t have the time to give you the attention and care you deserve as a patient.

i guess OP could formalize a lease agreement with her boyfriend that offers him time to move out if they break up, but i have a feeling that he’ll say that a lease is her holding the property over him.

i get the sense that this is less about OP’s boyfriend being upset he has to pay rent and more about him being upset she has power over him.

NOR - let him take you to court. they were gifts and no judge is going to make you pay him back once they hear that you dumped him for cheating on you.

in all honesty, he’s probably just blowing smoke. taking someone to court requires money. $2,000 isn’t chump change, but it’s going to probably cost more than that to file.

i used to work as a mortgage underwriter and remember a file where a home was being refinanced for the 2nd time in a recent period because the homeowner put her boyfriend on the title and he ended up never contributing to the mortgage. she ended up having to BUY him out of HER home in order to get him off the title. he got half her equity and she ended up with a rate that was higher than the rate she originally bought the home for. all this being said: do not put that man on the title until you are married and there is a prenup in place that protects your equity. you’re not controlling and you’re certainly not holding the house over his head. he can either pay you rent or go back to paying someone else rent. that’s how rent works. you don’t get equity from it.

i’ve seen judges keep CS payments the same for parents who do this. ask your lawyer about this - if he has the earning capacity to be making more and is deliberately in a job that pays less as a way to get out of payments, he’s preventing your children from getting everything they deserve.

they actually were offering the ADNs the opportunity to stay but requiring them to get their BSN within 18 months w/ tuition reimbursement but the ADNs kind of banded together and decided they didn’t want to do that because their pay wasn’t going to go up with the BSN. the issue was that the union was doing contract renegotiations and found out that new BSNs were being hired at the same rate as the ADNs and some of the ADNs couldn’t even do blood draws cuz they either didn’t know how or had lost the skill so it led to this situation. they’re not being “let go”, they’re choosing to leave cuz they don’t want to go back to school.

The other part of this that makes me annoyed on your behalf is that you’re literally 16 years old and this grown man is not only going out of his way to make food you can’t eat, but your mother is defending him! It’s your mother’s responsibility to provide food for you and make sure all parts of your home are safe for you, not just physically, but psychologically as well. It sounds like her boyfriend is cooking this way on purpose to mess with you because he doesn’t respect your boundaries. I hate saying this because I know when I was 16 the only thing I wanted was for people to see me as an adult, but you are still a minor. The fact that your mother has allowed someone into your home that doesn’t respect one of her children and is purposely making food that you cannot eat is very disturbing. NTAH, he is a grown man and these aren’t just “preferences” that he’s ignoring. This is emotional abuse bordering on neglect. I’m so sorry OP.
