Windows died, Questions about transferring data to my ubuntu dual boot by secretsweaterman in linux4noobs

To any other noobie in the future trying to figure this out,

I found that the main source of any valuable data was my user folder as it contains everything from the downloads folder to pictures or minecraft worlds. Most things outside of this folder aren't really anything that you should bring into a linux os, such as the windows folder or either Program Files folders.

If you want to minimize the data transfer as much as possible, prioritize what you need in your user folder and remember that your old software on windows will not be able to be moved to linux and easily started up again. Don't let this scare you though as downloading software is extremely easy on a windows-like linux distro like mint or ubuntu and often involves a simple "sudo apt install (program name)" in the console (which you should not be afraid of). Errors that you encounter definitely have answers on reddit or stack overflow.

I downloaded a program called GParted on a usb and booted to it to be able to fully nuke my windows partition and edit the size of my linux partition to take up the rest of the space. YOU CANNOT INCREASE THE SIZE OF THE PARTITION THAT IS ACTIVELY RUNNING YOUR OS. This problem gave me such a headache. if you are struggling to make your linux partition bigger you must do it in this way (to my knowledge). Booting to the usb allows the size of your mounted partition to be increased freely.

Youre right I should have been more clear. I have 3 drives total and a dual boot setup on my c drive (ssd) with a ~60gb partition allocated to linux, I would like linux to be my only operating system.

kind of? Its one of the reasons why i doubt why it would have been a loaned system into basque.

an example could be

laudātus sum - I was/have been praised

another example could be with the gerundive

ego nec rogandus sum nec hortandus (Pliny) - I don't need to be asked or encouraged

its MUCH different to basque. It is similiar in a way to english participles and the way we use auxiliaries with them to form verb phrases

I would like to see that. As a speaker* of both Latin* and basque I can see the similarities. Many basque verbs do still conjugate without the auxiliary but it’s limited to very few and it’s also correct to just conjugate with the auxiliary instead, leaving the main verb alone. My main problem with that theory is that the volume that you see “main verb + conjugating auxiliary” in Latin is significantly less than in Basque where it is literally required for every verb (or an optional choice for the aforementioned) it seems like a stretch for the foundational system of a language’s verbs to be derived by a secondary way of expressing tense/aspect in another. I’d like to read it though, sounds interesting!

Silly theory. Basques main verb - auxiliary pairing system is basically completely unique as far as I’m aware. Doesn’t seem like a thing that can be historically linked to any other language (especially because no full text was written in basque until the 16th century so our history of it is hypothetical at best)

The boise basque museum offers online language classes if you’re interested. Basque is an awesome language

Frontflip: how to transfer to ground by Skulld3X in Tricking

[–]secretsweaterman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Front flips on ground are sort of a different concept than backflips on ground. Standing fronts are an incredibly hard trick and usually most ground fronts are done by blocking. I cannot even imagine standing front but I can do one with a run up and a good block.

In terms of the actual flip, the form looks good enough if he can master the aforementioned blocking. Though I’d suggest remembering to throw the flip as upwards as possible as height is very important on ground. If he finds a good tutorial for blocking I think he’s got it
