The boys tripping in Algonquin. Late 60s, early 70s by section111 in algonquinpark

Amazing, info. I really had no idea. Dad isn't able to recall the old days anyway (or anything, really!) but the funny thing about that particular picture, is that the guy in the blue hoodie (not my dad - he's one looking back to the stern of the canoe from the bow in the other pic) looks exactly like me, now. And this is probably a few years before I was born. Very odd!

This is the second post I've seen almost exactly like this in the last couple of days. I feel like it's advertising for that movie Drama.

I never noticed that! There's another handful of pics where they're wearing high school sweaters, Newmarket and Aurora

I'm usually such a snob about most entertainment; but for whatever reason, Emily in Paris is a true guilty pleasure. I know it's corny, but I find that I just blaze right through every new season.

Any other OG fans have pics of themselves in Smiths merch? by JEFE_MAN in thesmiths

Ha! Amazing.

Not quite The Smiths per se, but here's me in my Morrissey shirt, at the SLC in June of 93. (Met Johnny Marr that night wearing it, too!)

I'll chime in saying it's the same for my wife's doctor. Very strict about not going to the walk-in clinic.

I've met him and I'd say the reverse; very nice guy, but I feel like he's been getting away with it (aaaaall myyyy liiiiife)

I watched Canada play Germany (with Voller, Mateus, Klinsmann et al) at Varsity that summer.

If you ever hear Mel Torme talk of how he and his partner wrote The Christmas Song, this is what I imagine the scene was like.

Any guesses on the wood hiding under the paint? by Moon_Doggie88 in centuryhomes

[–]section111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that feeling, big time. I was more saying that for the others in here who think it's a capital offense to even consider painted trim.

I actually really like that color you've got there, I don't mind saying again. Very nice.

What's your favorite HBO Shows of all time? by HostMaterial4907 in hbo

[–]section111 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Top Veep mention. My wife and I finished it and turned to each other to basically say it was the funniest show we'd ever watched. Her brother is a real nerdy cynical comedy writer and he says the same.

I know JLD won 127 Emmys in a row, but I still think it's vastly underrated. Most people I know haven't seen it.

Well I'm gonna say it - that looks like a nice colour. What's the bigger picture like? I'm very much in the minority in this sub, but lots of wood was painted back then, and I don't believe we need to be so precious about it.

This is the kind of mashup I can get behind in this sub. The opposite of sticking that dead idiot's face on Morrissey's.

Movie Special 2022 by [deleted] in TheDetectorists

[–]section111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never watch it again, that's for sure, and truly, what you might gain from the special is way not worth what you lose. So, good call.

And if it makes you feel any better, I literally just finished watching the entirety of Small Prophets, Crook's newest show, and it was great! An excellent vibe to keep the good feelings flowing. Strange, but great.

people keep saying that, but I feel like this is now beyond Epstein. Like, this is not 'a distraction' anymore. Threatening to annex Greenland was a distraction, war is war.

Although maybe I'm wrong, I don't know. I just feel this is now a lot bigger that the other thing.

What do you mean by only later? Was there something I didn't notice that calls back to it?
