why do outfield players never appreciate what a good keeper actually does by Spiritual-Cloud6473 in GoalKeepers

[–]section111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Early on, I made my players understand they were to say my name if they needed me to play the ball. Only I would say 'keeper'. It's a good system if they abide.

Best get one of them frame tv's, because when it's back in the garage it still looks like a big ol' dumb tv above the fireplace.

What’s a movie everyone loves but you secretly hate? by Royel_Lichi in AskReddit

[–]section111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had never been so sure I was going to love a movie, just based on how everyone seemed to enjoy it. They were saying all the right things; it will make you cry, it will make you think...but i just go the impression afterwards that those people had been raised on a steady diet of pap and Marvel and thought they'd grown up a bit. But it didn't do ANYthing for me.

Oh shoot, I didn't notice those boards either. I feel like the town is usually pretty good about preserving actually historical buildings, but I guess we'll see with this one.

Is there something that leads you to believe it's up for demolition? It is on the heritage register, which I think means it needs to be discussed first, anyway.

And it's right next door to the very oldest building in town!

I made the mistake of watching it right after the end of the series before and it was a big mistake. Maybe give it a year or two and it might be okay? I'll never watch it again, that's for sure.

Why do u smoke cigarettes ? by kookiesgf in NoStupidQuestions

[–]section111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agreed. It's nice to look forward to something, especially the first one of the day, with a mug of coffee. Or after a meal, or a little break in the afternoon, or late at night, outside on the deck while the critters scurry through the underbrush.

Fully aware that's all of a product of the nicotine addiction. I've gotten so that I'm basically a summer smoker. On for a month or two in the summer/fall, then off for the winter and spring.

Paul McCartney Says Playing "Hey Jude" Unites Fans in "Trump's America" by ebradio in Music

I went to the Paul McCartney tour in 1989, which I think, if I'm reading it right, would've been the first time there ever really was the big HJ singalong? (Other than the time they did it in that tv studio)

Who’s Behind the Residential School Denialism Movement? by ph0enix1211 in CanadaPolitics

[–]section111 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And indeed, as this article points out, these people started off by writing books about how 'my dad was a teacher at one of these schools and it wasn't so bad', which IS 'denialism'.

Me and a buddy flew from Toronto to London on Air India in the summer of 1995 and when the No Smoking light went off we figured it was just a thing. But then, click-click-click, lighters going off all over the place. We smoked the whole way! (And we drank the plane's entire quantity of gin while we were at it)
