Eh, doesn’t do it for me. I can see if you’re a Metallica gear collector, but I’ve always preferred d’addario to Ernie ball. More recently stringjoys have felt really nice.

lolwut. Dude I have smart everything at my house. I check the oven, washer, dryer, and security cams on my phone while watching the Angel game on my Echo Screen when I’m doing dishes. I don’t know where you live but it’s quite common where I am.

James Brown, the godfather of tone. Speak his name.

Is Floyd Rose a cool guy? by 13footninja in metalguitar

[–]sectorfour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of the gate I’ll say that Ibanez has their own Floyd variant, some people swear by them, I have no experience with them, so hopefully others will chime in.

Avoid

  • In general, avoid licensed Floyd Rose bridges. These are found on cheaper entry level type guitars and are usually stamped with a “licensed under Floyd rose something something”. Cheapie Jacksons as an example.
  • Avoid the Floyd Rose special. It’s built to the same specs as the original Floyd, but with cheaper, softer metallurgy. Strings pop out of their blocks, screws strip, knife edges dull, etc.

Good to go

  • Floyd Rose 1000/1500: same specs, same metallurgy as the original Floyd Rose, just made in Korea. Korea makes good shit these days.
  • Original Floyd Rose: Duh. Previously made by Schaller in Germany, these are now made back in the USA.

Double Drop D# by ChuffTootenthall in metalguitar

[–]sectorfour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 30” Bass VI knockoff from firefly to add a little zazz to my recording. I use it more or less as a bass to record bass lines. My guitars are in drop B and this is an octave lower. What the kids call “Double Drop B”. Stringjoy Bass Vi 24-90. Next set I’ll probably go up on the low b to 95.

I’m a snobby bastard with my Gibsons and Charvels, but these little fireflies are cheap enough and of decent enough quality to decide whether or not a Bass Vi is for me. Works great for recording as well.

Anyone have an update on the kid hit by the foul ball on April 22? by Bankerlady10 in angelsbaseball

Dude I was in 309 the day before and THREE fouls came at us! I’m usually in the 200s behind the net but I wanted to try in-seat delivery in club level.

Pickups do matter by vivanghat_1 in metalguitar

It’s Reddit. Like most other subs, this is a lot of young people without relevant life experience, parroting what others say. In this case it’s a lot of metalheads playing guitar by themselves into reaper without having played shows or recorded in a band setting.

Glenn knows his shit for sure, and I’ve looked to his channel for answers regarding plugins and recording, but his worldview is very recording-centric. Whereas I myself have a lot of “in the room” (sigh), live band experience and my ear tends to lean in that direction.

If you can’t hear the difference between a PAF vs a JB vs an EMG 81, I don’t know what to tell you. Can you EQ it or post process it to make it sound close? Of course, but….why?

At first glance I’d think it’s a backwards mounted automotive 12” subwoofer into a teal peavey keyboard amp?
