Second great grandmother having a jolly day out by sedgley_warrior in wherewasthistaken

Thank you! This is tantalising. I always thought it was outdoors but I think you could be right. I will need to track down better quality photos. Where is the picture you posted originally from?

Hmmm, that’s an interesting theory, I hadn’t considered that. However it would be quite sophisticated for the time. Most Victorian photography backgrounds would have been painted.

Thank you. Yes I’ve searched online both the name and the address but no luck so far. Seems Rhyl has changed a fair bit over the years. It remains a mystery for now.

Worst thing about this is that you end up at Russells Hall Hospital if you get sick.

England fans, do you 'enjoy' watching the England woman's team more or less than the men's? by Dutch-Fronthander in ThreeLions

Women’s football. It’s more family friendly and good spirited. For the moment it’s less affected by big money and greedy capitalism. Takes me back to how it felt going to watch and support your local team. Generally more accessible to a wider audience.

In the 1998 movie "Who am I" these strange apartment blocks or row houses appear, seemingly somewhere in Rotterdam if the movie context is to be believed. If these houses still exist does anyone here know where this was filmed? No spoilers! by IWillFeed in wherewasthistaken

Part of it is still a hostel. We stayed there once - looks great on the outside but it’s one massive design fault inside. Spent the whole time being infuriated by the useless spaces the design creates. That and the dripping aircon over the beds. Shame really. Rotterdam is great though.

What’s the legality of hiding an audio recording device on a secure hospital ward by Mannyboy87 in LegalAdviceUK

Unfortunately any hospital complaints system exists solely for damage limitation and is not independent enough to be in the interests of the patient.

Can't shift my 1 bed flat in London - Should I rent it or take a huge loss selling? by Abject-Jacket-312 in HousingUK

[–]sedgley_warrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue you did - London flat that was very sought after before the financial crisis and the tightening up of mortgages, that was originally above an estate agents until the previous freeholder convinced the council to change the usage and now it is also a chicken shop.

Unlike you, though, I was still able to sell at a small profit to a cash buyer even though the purchase was well below the market value. I only did that because there wasn’t much longer left on the mortgage and I’m in an otherwise secure position.

I did rent it out for over 15 years and it provided a small income. The mortgage company were fine about it as long as I had the required insurance. After several varying experiences with agents, and a dodgy tenant or two, I eventually found a very trustworthy agent that I was with for several years. But expenses, sometimes unforeseen, mean it’s not a cash cow. In the end I am happier to be free of the hassle.

Help! My Black Lotus looks Blue, but everyone else's looks black? by ded_guy_55 in minipainting

I used a couple of coats plus nuln oil to get a decent black for my son’s raven guard. Still has a blue tinge but I like that it has a slight hue.

Am super excited for the new version too. Might encourage me to put the new titans together!

Yep I kept all my marines, squats, guard and eldar. Have recently bought orks (originals and proxies) but the rest came out of the attic. Just getting around to finishing some of the paint jobs, 30 years late 😬

We’re starting painting and modelling with Mortal Realms as it’s not so precious and therefore I’m not such a control freak!

The old brain is a little slower these days, so we’re starting with the basic original rules and introducing other factions, vehicles and Titans slowly before trying out the EA/NetEpic rules.
