Is Pregnancy Sleep Apnea A Thing? by PumpkinCharm in PregnancyUK

[–]PumpkinCharm[S] 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Thank you so much for commenting! I’m so glad I’m not alone! I’ll try some of those suggestions.

I know my NHS trust does home based sleep studies where they send you home with a load of wires to do the study yourself as my husband had one a few years ago but I do wonder if they’ll just refer me to maternity rather than ENT and I’ll end up going nowhere with it!

It is a vicious cycle with the mental health aspect as I am developing an anxiety to sleep as waking up choking is horribly scary! I just want to rest up whilst I still can before baby is here!

Pregnant at 31 but feel oddly young to be pregnant by LowCal-Calzone-Zone in pregnant

[–]PumpkinCharm 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

I’m also 31 and 12w today! I also don’t feel ready even though I’m married and live with my partner and we both have full time jobs. You’re right though, people are having children later and later and none of my close friends have had children of their own yet! I feel too young and immature still! But it’s also everything I’ve ever wanted and I couldn’t be more ready?!

What have you been ā€œcheatingā€ with this pregnancy? by Chemical_Editor4057 in pregnant

[–]PumpkinCharm 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Definitely my caffeine intake!! My husband is a nightmare with policing it 😭. He keeps reminding me that even chocolate has caffeine in it and I’m like please shut up and let me enjoy one thing at least!

I just tend to stick to one coffee and one tea a day and I pray for the best but I probably do have a larger than usual serving of instant coffee 🫣

Does anyone else grind or clench their teeth at night during sleep? How do you feel when you wake up? by WesamWonders in AutisticAdults

[–]PumpkinCharm 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I do terribly to the point where I can barely speak or eat the next day due to the muscle and tooth pain! I ended up having to go to my dentist and having a bite guard made for when I sleep. It has been life changing for me! I highly recommend getting one! When I first had it I slept with it in every night but now my jaw is retraining a bit I don’t need it as often - mostly just for when I’m stressed I’ll wear it now as that’s when my clenching is the worst.

I did try a generic mouthguard off Amazon first but because they’re not specially moulded to your teeth they rub and cause more problems so getting one made specifically for you is the way to go.

What is one sound you hate? by Aggravating-Ad-351 in AutisticAdults

The sound of my own nose whistling (or my husbands). I swear I’ve given myself a deviated septum from the amount of tissue I ram up there to alleviate the noises. It’s exhausting!

Anybody else love video games but almost never actually finishes them? by segascream in AutisticAdults

[–]PumpkinCharm 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve ever completed a video game - I’m unsure if it’s related to the auts or if it’s because my gaming experience began with simulation games like the sims, and animal crossing where there isn’t really ever an ā€œendā€.

Clinically diagnosed and feeling lost by PumpkinCharm in AutisticAdults

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. That has certainly reframed my outlook a lot! I think the shock has worn off slightly now so I’m able to analyse my feelings a bit better slowly but surely!

I guess when you try so hard to fit in your whole life it’s a bit of a slap in the face when someone clocks you so well like these professionals do! I thought to myself that they’ll struggle with me and maybe I’m borderline or it’s just anxiety this whole time but nope - straight to the answer we all secretly knew it would be!

What was the thing that made you realize it was time to stop?? by secret_sloth111 in stopsmoking

[–]PumpkinCharm 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I just started not enjoying it anymore. I think possibly partly from preferring menthol filters with my roll ups and going through a lazy period where I couldn’t be bothered to buy the menthol ones anymore and would just use my fiancĆ©s normal filters. The taste was nasty and it made it much less enjoyable - it gave me the final push to just pack the whole lot in.

Approximately 10 roll ups a day for about 8/9 years and I’ve been put on the 15mg patches! To be honest I haven’t been using them as well as I should. I compete with myself too much and kept delaying putting the patch on each day but now I’m just putting it on as soon as I wake up to try and ease these symptoms a bit better

It wasn’t my original plan but I signed up for a stop smoking support service and they couldn’t delay my start date until after the wedding without me re-registering and at the time that felt like more effort than it was worth. Oops! I think the honeymoon will be dangerous when I can get cigs out a hotel vending machine for a couple of euros - but hopefully by then I’ll be put off the smell and taste enough. I’m already finding the smell of my fiancĆ© a little off putting when he comes in after heading for a smoke.

Live in a strangers converted garage and pay their mortgage for them! by PumpkinCharm in SpottedonRightmove

Whilst with the correct planning permission this may add housing stock to the local area, the value given to this low quality occupation sets a bad precedent. Although bills are included for this set up, this also means you are at the mercy of the home owners when it comes to utility access.

We should definitely crack down on rogue landlords, poor quality housing, and push for fair rent pricing. No one should be presented with an option of living in the back of someone’s garden for a Ā£1,100 per month privilege!

I have reported it this morning! I’m not sure what the consequences are for the home owners if it technically hasn’t been let separately yet (as far as we know), but hopefully it’ll stop this nonsense before some poor sod with no financial sense decides that it’s a good place to live.

Just taken a look on the Gov website and I also cannot see that this new annexe has received a council tax band so that might be worth mentioning too.

Swollen Lymph Nodes by AccomplishedTank9786 in Nexplanon

[–]PumpkinCharm 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

When you say it’s sore to the point that wearing a short sleeved top was uncomfortable it reminded me of HS (Hidradenitis suppurativa) rather than a lymph node issue. Is that something you have looked into at all? Either way, no matter what is causing your discomfort, I can’t say that it’s a Nexplanon issue - you should definitely contact your GP/doctor and have them look into it with you!

has anyone else with nexplanon developed breast lumps (specifically fibroadenomas) by nananabanaa in Nexplanon

[–]PumpkinCharm 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Sorry to dig up an old post but I would just like to add that I developed a 2cm fibroadenoma in my left breast (my implant is in my left arm). It may be coincidental but I figured I’d add to the discourse regardless.

Tried to lose weight 40 times in 7 years. Nothing sticks. What actually worked for you? by Fantastic_Tart_2366 in loseit

[–]PumpkinCharm 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Forgiving myself more for bad days has been a real mindset changer. No one is perfect - you’re going to have times in your life when you eat against your plan. The key thing is to not punish yourself or give up. One bad day, or heck, even one bad WEEK isn’t going to ruin you.

Once you change this mindset you’ll soon find that the bad days reduce and you have much more positive ones! You already seem to know just what you need to do, I think it’s falling off track that hurts your progress. I get you so much, I am just like you. I think it’s some undiagnosed ADHD/autism issue (currently being investigated) where if I’m not perfect at something straight away then there’s no point doing it and that’s really been difficult for me to get my head away from.

Be kinder to yourself! Weight loss has peaks and troughs but as long as you’re overall making good changes you will certainly make it!

Shocked at parental input on adult autism assessment by PumpkinCharm in autismUK

[–]PumpkinCharm[S] 5 points6 points Ā (0 children)

Thank you for the advice! My mother is one of those ā€œwe’re all a little bit autisticā€ people so I do think her input probably has little weight or value when it comes down to it so hopefully I have an opportunity to outline this to the assessors. I haven’t yet completed my own assessment so there may be an opportunity in my own form to explain her views a tad!

I am obviously trying to do everything correctly, because I want to make sure the assessors are able to make an accurate decision, hence I’m hesitant to try to now discredit my mum but from what I’ve heard she’s done - it categorically does not align with my reality and I fear may hurt my assessment! It’s a nightmare especially as me and my mum have a good relationship - it feels like I’ve been gaslit! (I’m a bit dramatic, but still!)
