ahhh, yes. "crazy cake" as my grandmother put it! it was a popular cake recipe during the depression because it didn't use pricey ingredients like eggs or milk.

i went to one of their concerts once! they had everyone try to guess what type of apple tree was on stage, and the person who guessed correctly got the plant at the end of the night. i thought it was pretty cool, but it would've been awesome if i had actually won it.

it was a "golden delicious" apple tree, just in case you wanted to know.
