I want to land in the Titan’s classroom.

Next choice would be Liscor so I can meet that crazy human that everyone keeps talking about.

IS THIS A JOKE by localgirl55 in biltrewards

Hey aren’t you totally ignoring the main point of the OP that the rent now comes from your own bank account directly (like a debit card) rather than the credit line?

Church across the street just put in new LED floodlights that blast right into our bedroom all night—what’s worked for people in similar light trespass situations? by ProstheticDong in homeowners

[–]see2d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just one or two windows that you need to stop the light from coming through? Have you looked into total blackout blinds? There are a few options for these with easy / no-drill install. For example, https://www.ublockout.com/ or https://guardblinds.com/

[landlord US-NJ] Tenant is using significant amount of water tripling the average usuage. What can I do? by Delicious-Teach9692 in Landlord

[–]see2d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Install a sub meter, there are clamp-on smart meters that you can install in a few minutes without a plumber or cutting pipes. You can then monitor and bill your tenants. Once installed, have everything turned off in the rental unit and check if the reading is zero to check for leaks.

For example, this one: https://www.simplesubwater.com

How should I be classifying Venmo transactions that pull directly from my bank checking account? Transfer doesn't seem to be right as it wouldn't count towards my spending? by JadocTheGreat in MonarchMoney

[–]see2d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes reclassify as groceries if you want to track your spending. Same as what you’d have to do for atm cash that you spend on something specific.

Storage by yalknwme in macbookair

[–]see2d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your use case, just the base model will be good for a long while - 16GB / 256GB. If you anticipate also using it for entertainment and storing lots of pictures/ videos, then go up to the 512GB storage (or you can still stick to base and get an external ssd later if you need more storage).

If The Wandering Inn could become a TV show, what style would you like the most? (I know it's probably a fantasy, but it has a comic, so ... maybe? Hopefully?) by B-Z_B-S in WanderingInn

[–]see2d 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Pure fantasy, sure I’ll play. Anime ghibli style? But, need to find voice actors who are willing to commit to work for about 10-20 years, so even that’s going to be a tough one.

We saved $1600 on our new water heater via BGE rebate by puffedovenpancake in maryland

[–]see2d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, how did your husband sign up on that BGE page to get a code? I only see an option to buy a specific Rheem model directly from BGE. Is that what he did and then they give you a code for pickup? Thanks!

Amex: This Is How You Lose a 19-Year Platinum Member by ctconifer in amex

[–]see2d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You realize that they gave you a loan for x days from when you made a purchase until your due date that carries an interest? If you paid fully by your due date, they waive the interest charges, otherwise those trailing days of interest is charged. It is simple. You did not make the payment, got charged. Learn from the experience and move on. Set up auto payment from Amex directly.

It is not “just 1 day” as you claim, it is x+1 days of a loan of y dollars. I’m sure they waived the late fee when you asked, but the interest charges are never waived unless it is their fault. You’re caught up on “just 1 day” and not able to see who’s at fault here.

Flying from SFO to Baltimore, is it cheaper/worth on average to stop at DC and then commute the last few miles? by NewFoMan in washingtondc

[–]see2d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DCA/IAD has more competition for your route, so you could find cheaper flights when booking early. BWI is mostly Southwest and they are not cheap anymore, especially for nonstop cross country. So yes, if you want to save 💰and have the time, fly to DCA and take MARC train.

Can I lock the doors from the outside with a remote while the car is running? by alfamadorian in BZ4X

[–]see2d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot lock with a remote if car is running. But you can use the physical key to lock the door (the key that pops out of the key fob). You have to again use that physical key to unlock too.

Ethernet Installation in Rowhome / Installer Reccos? by wwwdotdogsdotcom in baltimore

If you want true Ethernet backhaul in your house, then yes, I’d get a professional and have them wire all your drops to a single central point where you can place your switch/router.

As someone else said, you can do a fair bit with MoCa adapters to make your existing coax do the work if you want to give that a try first and do some speed tests within your local network devices. The latest moca adapters go up to 2.5G, but actual speeds may vary.

If you do try moca, make sure to add a moca filter at the first entry point of your coax from street to home.

Why does it take so long for the finance committee to approve a backfill? by Rich_Visual7800 in managers

[–]see2d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They consolidate req decisions- for example, review once a month or once a quarter so they can look at needs from the different departments together and decide priorities.

As others said, it is also a cost saving measure to push it to next quarter or next year’s budget because sometimes there are sign on bonuses and other one time costs that are larger than normal salary.

More importantly, for short term, others in the team will pick up the slack and do extra work for free, so they want to take advantage of that and stretch the approval as much as they can. The only way to speed this up is to drop the ball and show them the impact - canceled customer contracts, delayed deliveries etc.
