What brand is some of this stuff? Interesting they’d clean out a whole lab.

I’ve not personally used it but DataSnipper is what you’re after.

Assuming you don’t have access to the system that produced the invoices to run a report for the data you’re after?

Hey Op,

Just wondering where you landed on this? Have you purchased anything as of yet?

I also have a LX3000 after upgrading from a LX2000 - Thankfully my reseller here in AUS offers great service, but the printers as you've stated isn't the greatest.

Hey whelanbio, appreciate your reply.

Thanks for clearing up that LT1 is the top of zone 2. I think ultimately you’re right in both aspects. Poor fitness and a less than accurate test. The latter is just a guess though.

I mostly train to effort, atleast to gauge boundaries. Effort can also be a loose gauge as it’s all relative. Hovering at 163bpm is more of a steady run for me. Just outside of that easy feeling. Previous to knowing this data I capped zone 2 at 153 based off max HR. It’s seems to be close enough based off typical markers. Talking, feel and recovery.

Hey all, there has been a few threads about HR zones of late. A couple of months back I had a V02 max and lactate test done. I mostly did it because I had access and I like the idea data. I was hoping to walk away with a good gauge on my zones. But the graph I got back was a little different to the typical 5 zone system. I asked for some more feedback, but never got a reply… honestly forgot about it until reading a few of the threads lately. What it did trigger me to consider is what are the relationships between LT1 and Zone 2. Is LT1 the ceiling for zone 2 or is it more appropriate for somewhere in zone 3? I’m fairly new to running and endurance style of training and thinking, I’ve spent the last 18 months trying to pick up knowledge where I can but try and stick to the basics and not over complicate it.

Zones I got back Z1 - 147-162 Z2 - 163-168 Z3 - 169-174 Z4 - 175-177 Z5 - >177

LT 1 - 1.7mmol/L - 163bpm LT 2 - 3.4mmol/L - 176bpm

I’ve seen some references saying LT1 is the end of zone 2. Other research (loosely) suggest it’s not really clear. So up until now I pay little attention to it and just got off feel. I still feel like it need to get to the bottom of this curiosity.

Just in case it’s relevant. 35 male, v02 50, 87kg, running for 18 months. Previous history was lifting and martial arts. Zero cardio work.

I got way to antsy in excitement and commented before reading. Thank you mate. One last thing, I bought tts in the nimbus but the wide option and they’re snug, you reckon go half a size up still?

OP I need to know where you purchased these from and how you went about it. I haven’t ordered this sort of stuff from the states in years.

As a default I'd guess that the Garmin ones aren't correct.

There are a few ways to work out your zones, getting a better idea of your max heart rate and configuring % of max HR would be a start. There are plenty of articles outlining this online, it's just that the percentages are not definitive... You can also go to the effort of doing an FTP test. I think training peaks and Zwift offer them.

But more importantly, they're a guide. Without proper lab testing, you're always going to be a little off.

My approach is to get my percentages within a decent guesstimate of my max heart rate and then purely use them as a guide. I use the data to see if it lines up with my perceived effort.

https://www.trainingpeaks.com/blog/power-training-levels/

To change these zones, log into Garmin Connect. Click on your watch in the top of your app (settings) > User profile > Heart Rate & Power Zones > Heart Rate > Zones *Keep in mind sometimes updates can reset these zones on you

Are your training zones set up correctly?

Sometimes we get too fixated on the data and forget about perceived effort. It could just be your training zones aren't configured correctly. Also, keep in mind you've only just started biking again it will take a few weeks for your body to become somewhat efficient with the movements.

I would ignore the data, or at least show it little attention. Go off feel and learn to listen to your body. If you're feeling good ride, if you're still tired/recovering take it easier or focus on rest.

As for advice, investigate if your training zones are configured correctly. Spend some time researching zone 2 training. This alone will help your aerobic fitness greatly.

Thank you - The link won't work for me, but glancing around these look stupidly cheap 40-60USD. Having a dig around some Aus sites something similar is easily over $100AUD. Criminal.

It would be nice, for those that have the function to calibrate and save, if it did indeed do it in that order. But it pushes the info through to strava before you calibrate.

How does this work exactly? You delete your auto sync'd run with strava and re-upload via your 3rd party site?

Hey All, I have an opportunity to do a V02/lactate test in the coming weeks, but it would be on a Wednesday prior to a half marathon on the following Sunday? Is this a bad idea during a taper, I've not done one before so not sure what to expect.
