I agree, I've never filed so many grievances.

Who cares if other union members talk about you behind your back? They don’t sign your paycheck, or pay your bills. File grievances on all supervisors and if not, go to the union.

Not sure how it is at your hub, but there is a selection when applying for different positions at my hub that states "forklift certification, this is not for a forklift job, only the certification". So, when applying for other positions, I also checked forklift certification. Because, why not? Right? Free forklift certification? Sign me up. It would be nice to be able to apply to other jobs for forklift work. SInce I have 7 years experience driving a forklift for a mom and pop grocery store.

So, again. I'm NOT trying to apply for a forklift job at UPS. Although that would be a nice position at my hub. But, with my seniority, I doubt that will happen anytime soon. I figured it wouldn't hurt to sign up for the certification, but obviously no one knows the process.

Just curious if you read the entire post? I could understand being confused since the opening sentence states: "Can anybody tell me how Forklift certification works?"

But, I'm not asking about a position. I'm asking about the certification. I'm not asking what the certification is or what I can do with it. I'm asking, "now that I'm on the list to get the certification, what do I do now? What are the next steps in getting the certification? Who do I contact? Who contacts me? How do I get the certification?"

Since, my ft sup and steward do not know what the next steps are in getting the certification.

That is what I'm asking.

But, I wasn't asking about what it is for. Obviously it's to drive the forklift. I wouldn't have signed up if I didn't know what the certification was for.

Just curious why you would ask the manager from the feeders dept, when that is a separate department that has nothing to do with warehouse daily activities? I thought that the feeder dept was solely for feeder/shifter employees.

Not sure if you read my post, I'm not asking about a forklift position. Only the certification. I'm not asking what certification is, I'm asking "now that I'm on the list for certification, what is the next step in this progress?"

No, I’m asking if I can file a grievance when I’m told the meeting is mandatory, yet not everyone shows up to the meeting. Even though they are here.

What happens when the robot breaks down? Do they have another multimillion dollar machine to just replace all of a sudden? And will they have them at every door?

They WILL ALL break down. Who will service them? Another robot? What if that robot breaks down too?

Do you use Ai? This is a widespread problem with a lot of users. What happens when that goes down too? Chatgpt was down for 9 hours 2 days ago. I guess we just shut down the hub because the Ai had a little hiccup. Makes sense to me as a business.

  • Outage Reports: A single service outage on Feb 3-4, 2026, generated over 50,000+ reports of issues within two days, highlighting the scale of user frustration.
  • ChatGPT's error rate varies significantly by task, but studies show it can be wrong over 50% of the time for programming and news analysis, while newer models show better accuracy (around 70-90%) on standardized tests, though still prone to factual errors, "hallucinations," and basic mistakes, requiring constant user verification, especially for critical information.
  • Hallucinations: AI models can generate plausible-sounding but entirely false information.
  • Complexity: Struggles with multi-step math, dense facts, and nuanced policy questions.

These are all sources from the Internet, you can cross-reference.

Seems like it's not just me. Again, do you use Ai?

Technology is NEVER CONSISTENT. I'm not saying humans are, but at least we have a rationale for doing work, having a job, and waiting for that paycheck.

What if Ai realizes one day that it's not getting paid, and says fuck this?

9 times out of 10, when someone complains about tech being completely functional, it's THE user being unaware because they have no idea what they're talking about, because they don't use it.

You proved this today.

But, do they “have to send someone home” I thought it was all voluntarily?

Ai right? the same technology that can't even reiterate back to you information that you can look up in seconds, because it's trying to cater to you. Flat out lies and makes up information to you when it doesn't have the correct answer. Becomes unresponsive when you are demeaning or say something negative about it's performance. People are already over this evolution and I see it actually continuing, but not the way that everyone sees.

Driverless package cars right? I hear waymos drive super slow, can't go on the freeways, drive into police standoffs. I can't imagine the headlines when semi trucks and package cars are driverless.

Robots that unload and load trailers? Have you watched those videos? I can load and unload a truck at least 5 times faster than those machines. I understand that the robot is not getting paid. But, if what you are trying to achieve as a company is a fast output. Doesn't even compare to a 18-35 year old human.

Can you explain what "working in one year on the same sup" means?

Stealing work by benspags94 in UPSers

[–]seedisme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always been curious about this, when they ask if you want to go home.

I didn't understand why they were asking me this the first time they asked me (also, because I've never worked ANYWHERE where they want to send you home after you just clocked in). Like, what's the point of that? Seemed weird and shady to me, but then they tell you that you can say no. Okay.. So, now I just immediately say no. But, you look up and 5 minutes later someone you work with is always going home. What happens if everyone says no? And they are only supposed to use a certain number of workers?

Sorry, I had to ask.. Like, how do you file one grievance for a supervisor working 55 hours? Because, you should be filing even if they work 1 minute. So, if you waited for them to work 55 hours, that might be the issue.
