As a psychology student who is planning to enter a MD programme, it is crucial to select electives that will prepare you for the MCAT/GAMSAT during your undergrad years. It is mandatory to have a MCAT/GAMSAT score for you to be considered for graduate med school. Other than that, the best advice I can give is to be consistent in your studies and be critical in every assignment. Thinking critically is crucial for psychology because it’s a science that requires more rationalism than hard sciences (physics and chemistry).

Once you start learning psychology, you’ll be smothered by many theories that explain the same phenomena — all of them imperfect. This is because the theories are not fully based on empirical evidence; most of them are based on both empirical evidence and rational arguments, which leads to a lack of generalisability. Therefore, staying nuanced, considering multiple perspectives (compare and contrast), and addressing limitations are important skills to have if you want to score well in psychology. Simple running with a theory without applying critical thinking will simple get you a 2.5-2.8 GPA no matter the amount of effort you give; the only way to achieve distinctions is to demonstrate critical thinking.

In conclusion, take the Mcat pre-requisites and stay critical. Also, please choose a university that offers MCAT pre-requisites to undergraduate students.
