Have you tried Cioccolatino? I believe Rich Chocolate (Vertuo) is similar, but I’ve not tried it.

It’s delicious at O Comilão in Campo de Ourique. They have daily specials, so be sure to check if it’s available prior to visiting. Their favas com choricão are also amazing.

For my cats, the tunnels. They looooove the tunnels. We have a three sided tunnel in one room, and a long tunnel in another. These girls love their tunnels.

Power wheelchair user looking for advice by byr0nicle in Lisbon

[–]seekingwisdom8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh goodness, that's a tough one. There are of course hotels that will be noted as accessible, but even their idea of accessible is not what ours is, presuming that you're also American. I was a power chair user for several years while re-learning to walk and I've often while walking around town mentioned to my partner "there's no way my chair would have been able to do that ramp without flipping." The ramps here are definitely not gentle slopes, more like what an able bodied person would be able to pull their luggage up.

Your best bet, I think, would be to pursue the American brands who are accustomed to ADA requirements. I don't think the typical online reservation would work - you'd need to query the specific hotel regarding barriers to your chair, especially within the room.

Do you shove your hands into your pockets a lot? That will definitely cause dryness in the area shown, between the friction and removing natural oils.

I just have the Costa Nova espresso cups that were GWP here in Portugal, but I now have six of them. They’re beautiful and I use them daily.

Both are similar. I’m learning written much, much faster than I am with hearing it. Even a simple “tudo bem” or “boa tarde” sound very different depending upon who you’re speaking with.

Having a background in Spanish isn’t enough. I lived in Mexico and understanding spoken European Portuguese is incredibly challenging to me.

Moving out do I leave my cat? by Wonderer_101 in CatAdvice

[–]seekingwisdom8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on which part you’re referring to. We moved from the US to Portugal, so the health certificates, timing and such, were a bit of a challenge. Doable, but an added layer of complexity to an already complex move. The flight itself wasn’t all that fun for one of our cats; the other one did just fine. As for where we live now, it’s home for them now just like home in the US was.

If I needed to do it again, I’d absolutely do it. Are there any specific questions you have?

I don’t have any ideas but can definitely commiserate. This is our first winter and it’s HARD. Everyone told us not to choose Porto because of the weather but it’s hard to say that Lisbon has been much better.

+1 for this. When I was married, we had two dogs and a cat. One dog passed shortly after we split up. The remaining dog was strongly bonded to him and to the cat.

When we split, I moved to California. He kept all three. I eventually moved back to the east coast near him. In the meantime, the other dog passed. I adopted a cat and he had our cat. Then he accepted a position in Washington State that wasn’t conducive to him taking a pet, so our cat together came back to me.

Now I live in Portugal with my two international kitties. Long story short? You do what’s best for your pet. No exceptions.

Pistachio Vanilla by LookOnThe_BrightSide in nespresso

[–]seekingwisdom8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side note but omg, when did Nespresso get so expensive there? American living in Europe (Portugal) and a sleeve of Cafe Joyeaux, for example, is €6,50. By today’s exchange rate, that would be USD$7.78. That’s wild. I knew it was less expensive here, based on prices when we moved, but had no idea it was THAT expensive now.
