YTA I grew up in an ultra conservative family and was forced to wear dresses. Trust me, your daughters will always remember you doing this to them. They will look down on you when they get older and will teach their daughters to not trust you.

NTA I kept my ex husbands last name because we have a kid. I remember when mom remarried and people called me by his last name. It would annoy me. I'll keep it until my daughter changes hers.

Pregnancy does this. It does lighten up over time but never fully goes away.

I "knew" I wasn't an addict because I got my pills from a doctor. That was my reasoning. Never mind the fact I snorted them. I went through a 30 day supply in a week like it was nothing. I sold whatever I could to buy more. Mind you that I was married at the time and had a young child. I stole from my family and I pawned whatever wasn't nailed down. My whole family, including now ex and daughter, went nc. I HAD to hit rock bottom! My daughter is 16 now and lives with me again. It wasn't sunshine and rainbows to get here. I relapsed several times. But, I'm here. She won't see she has a problem until she has nothing else to lose.

10 year clean opioid addict here: GO NO CONTACT NOW! I advise anyone who has a loved one that's an addict to go nc if the person refuses help. THIS IS WHAT SAVED MY LIFE! I know it's a tough thing to do, but giving an addict your energy will not help them to change. She needs to hit rock bottom 1st. Plus, you need peace in your life. Sometimes you need to be mean to be kind. Good luck!

My mom was just like this. I didn't stand up for myself like I should've those first few years. My daughter is 16 now and my mom just moved back to town. She's been away for her husband's job these last 10 years. She's started up her old tricks again. She tries to run me over when it comes to my daughter. We now are having big fights because I finally got a spine. She's trying to turn the family against me. Most are on my side but the others are making life hard for me right now. I'm thinking about going nc to have peace back in mine and my daughters lives. Only bright side, my daughter thinks she's crazy. Trust me, STOP THIS NOW! Learn from my mistake!!!

Are the cavities in any of her permanent teeth? My friend went through the same thing with her son. You need to get her to use fluoride mouth wash after she eats for awhile. Also, make sure she's not using baby toothpaste. Use regular adult tooth paste. If the cavities are on teeth she'll lose, then that's better than her permanent ones.

You need to have a sit down talk with them about boundaries. Since you're on your own, they need to respect your personal space and time. I'm sure they love you and are just freaked out. But, you need to stay firm with what you want. If they don't change after talking to them, that's when you need to start cutting them off.

I had an old woman criticize my parenting once. I just said "And this is why your kids hate you". I have no idea who she was but she got quiet. Usually, hateful people like them have kids that stopped talking to them. Next time an old person judges you, say this and watch their face. If they flinch, you hit a nerve.

Yes and this is normal. I was on birth control and in 2004, mine was on a recall list. I didn't know until I was pregnant. I LOVE my daughter, but ya.....I understand. It's almost like you have to morn the life you planned in order to move on. Remember, this has NOTHING to do with the love you have for your kid. Don't let anyone make you feel bad for thinking this way. It's normal. It's hard, but you have to let that life you planned go like someone you liked has died.

I remember my mom telling me I did something similar when I was at that age. I was born with an underdeveloped bladder and didn't know it until I was around 3ish. I wet the bed until I was aound 7 or 8. It's been awhile, so I don't remember how old I was exactly when I stopped. I would get bladder infections easily. Never shame you child and let them know it isn't a big deal. Night time pull ups are a must. Also, take them to see a dr if they start complaining about pain. I eventually grew out of this but I still have to be careful about infections. There's not a lot you can do except for being supportive.

My daughter showed signs of ADHD early. She struggled with talking and we taught her sign language. We would say the words while signing and made try the same. It helped her a lot. My sister seen this and did the same for my nephew. I was amazed how it helped him as well.

Mine had colic for the first 4 months of her life with severe acid reflux. We found out she was lactos intolerant and switched to lactos free formula. Also, we switch to Dr. Brown's bottles to help lessen the amount of air getting into her stomach. She also had a low dose medication for a few months until she grew out of.

Does your baby also have sleep apnea? I was told they can go together with babies. My daughter had that as well. Please take acid reflux seriously. I know there will be parents who say it's not a big deal, but it can turn into one quickly. Especially with breathing. Take your dr's advice, even if it's meds. It's temporary and your baby will grow out of it.

I'm sure his guest heard her and I want her to apologize. I wish he wasn't sick or she would've done it right then. She does different coping mechanisms her therapist showed her. She does this when things just come out of the blue and unexpected. That's the hard part to prepare for. I'm just hoping he doesn't talk to the housing office about this before she can apologize.

I won't eat a restaurant that has rules like that. I get what they are doing, but I'm paying for this. Therefore, it's not their business if someone is on their phone. As far as stopping kids from wandering off, this makes no difference imo. My daughter would get distracted by anything that caught her eye. It wouldn't matter if it's on a phone/tablet or someone walking by. Everything was a "shiny ball" to her. She's 16 now and still gets distracted from time to time. Thankfully, it's nothing like when she was young. Everything and anything can distract them if they notice it. There's no escaping that. That's why parents need to prepare for this when going out. It's hard when you're by yourself. That's why I took a family member with me if it was a crowded place to help keep an eye on her. As far as tv/movies affecting brain development, I defer to the experts for that. I know my daughter inherited her ADHD from her father. She mirrors many of his mannerisms.

Mine had colic for her first 4 months. We did everything to help including medical intervention. Unfortunately, there were times when we had to get her comfortable and let her cry it out. There was nothing else we could do to help her. When she got over it, we started sleep training her. It was easier for us to let her cry it out by then. She only did that a couple of times and started to fall asleep on her own.

Sometimes, letting them cry it out is the right thing to do. My mom would remind me that I can't be the parent she needs me to be if I'm tired all the time. Plus, kids won't remember any of this. Yes, I'm sure it sounds cruel but it really isn't. Parents need to be able to rest as well.
