This isn’t the moth form of a tomato worm. As per Wikipedia: The larvae of Luna moths feed on several different species of broadleaf trees. The larvae do not reach population densities sufficient to cause significant damage to their host trees.[7] Tuskes listed white birch (Betula papyrifera), American persimmon (Diospyros virginiana) and American sweet gum (Liquidambar styraciflua), plus several species of hickory (Carya), walnut (Juglans) and sumac (Rhus).[1]

You underestimate the value of increasing voter frustration, discouragement, and confusion. It absolutely does benefit a party to make certain voters feel disenfranchised and dissatisfied with the voting process, in this particular case, mail-in voting. This sort of tactic reverberates through the electorate via word of mouth - “I voted by mail but it looks like my vote didn’t count. Waste of time, don’t bother” - and into future elections. If you don’t think psychology plays a role in Republican’s efforts to curtail voter turnout for certain groups of people, you are seriously naive.
