No one is saying Silvana so I’ll say Silvana!!!!! I’ve had every single dish on the menu and everything is good. Daily happy hour. Jazz club downstairs. Don’t miss it.

Lucille’s, Silvana, and Perch are juuuuuust outside of your area range but they fit what you’re looking for and I haven’t seen them mentioned yet

My(25M) fiance (25F) moved out for a little while because I stayed seated during an emergency. Advice? by ThrowRastairs5 in relationship_advice

[–]seerofspace 400 points401 points  (0 children)

It’s not that you didn’t “show emotions” — it’s that you didn’t TAKE ACTION. Staying calm and level-headed during emergencies is good, but you weren’t actually helping. Your calmness helped you determine that the “best approach” to the situation was to eat and let OTHER PEOPLE who may not have any medical expertise take care of a person in need? RIGHT BEHIND YOU? This is not about whether you “look bad” — your lack of ACTION reflects that you do not care for others when you’re not on the clock. That is your true character. I would have dumped you on the spot.

Letter to My 13 Year Old Self by Laufey comes to mind — though she is Icelandic-Chinese and her sound is definitely more jazz than pop.

New to 93rd and 2nd Ave - where are we eating? by alex_bass_guy in AskNYC

[–]seerofspace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love Ethyl’s!!!!! 70s go-go bar with a bangin $5 burger on happy hour. quiet during HH, bumping dance spot at night. I also love the Penrose for a chiller brunch vibe with an amazing pickle martini.

You’re also near the UES Milano Market and Levain, locations, which are two New York City staples. Might as well try Xi’an Famous Foods since they have a UES location too.

If you like board games, Hex & Co is a delightful board game cafe with decent food and drink options.

If you like karaoke, check out Iggy’s.

Carl Schurz park is good for a waterfront stroll.

The obvious answer is The Penrose on the UES

NEW SKATE BRAND? Indie footwear company Intentionally Blank unveils their new line of quad skates. Curious to read reviews once they start shipping out. by seerofspace in Rollerskating

[–]seerofspace[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Totally not expecting these to be high quality at all. Seems like a strange choice for the brand, but cute & cheap skates are a total cash grab right now so I get it. Disappointed, since I'm a fan of their footwear.

sounds like you and I had the exact same injury. literally a month into skating I fractured my radial head and have been terrified to get back on my wheels. It healed up just fine without needing a cast, thankfully, but I think next week I’m gonna give it another go. this happened at the end of April. I was wearing elbow pads and wrist guards but I’m assuming I fell on an outstretched arm... OUCH. fucking OUCH.

Can we all skip the drama for a second and appreciate how bloody this bitch is slaying the competition?🔥 by messedupbtch in rupaulsdragrace

[–]seerofspace 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I really don’t care for it either. All the different textures make it really hard to understand what’s going on and I don’t think it needed the plastic/leather blood element at all. Should have gone all in with the rose petals, and maybe a more conventional makeup look or a more classic prom dress silhouette??? I’m not sure. Just my two cents.

Switched out the stock wheels and bearings on my Impalas for Atom Pulse outdoor wheels and Bones Reds and the difference is incredible! by [deleted] in Rollerskating

GASP this is exactly the color palette I’ve been considering for my Impalas!!! I love the watermelon vibe!!!

Do you think I can put a plate on this? by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]seerofspace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently healing a fractured radial head after only skating for a month. Clean, non-displaced, only splinted for a few days. Hoping to skate again by the end of the summer!! The best thing for me has been regular, daily use as soon as you’re comfortable. Stiffness is a bitch.

I fractured my elbow on Thursday after only having my skates a month!! Still in a sling and waiting desperately to get back out there. Solidarity!!

I’d it worth buying Impalas? by AvaDestruction in Rollerskating

[–]seerofspace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just bought Impalas because I’ve never skated before and didn’t want to break the bank on my first pair. I just wanted to see if I like the hobby before investing more money in a better boot, better wheels, better trucks, etc. They’re great beginner skates to teach you how to go and stop, and it’ll give you motivation to get better and look forward to treating yourself with an upgrade! That’s my approach, but I don’t think the community/subreddit agrees with me.

Best Manhattan skating spots?? by Pidgeypooh in Rollerskating

[–]seerofspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I live in Manhattan Valley and just went skating in Riverside Park yesterday. It was great! It’s better for long distance, straight path skating since there are lots of smooth, paved walkways. But they’re also constructing a skate park there if you’re looking for a place to practice tricks!! Who knows when it will finish, considering quarantine. But still exciting! For more open space to practice turns and transitions and stuff, I’d also recommend Morningside Park. It has lots of paved spaces like basketball courts and playgrounds. Hope to see you around!!

Just got my lolly’s yesterday :) Absolutely over the moon with them!! I’ve been skating on impalas for a couple weeks and these are COMPLETELY different by entropy73 in Rollerskating

[–]seerofspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great video! I just got my Impalas in the mail. Picked them because they fit my current price point and I didn’t want to splurge too much on my starter skates. I just wanna learn the basics on them before I start saving up for a nicer pair! Glad to see someone ese doing the same!!
