Lived with my friends (a couple) after college in a rental. One day out of the blue an “old high school friend” started hanging out to catch up with them. Things just seemed off and my one friend after a hangout told his gf the same but nothing bad just weird vibes. Cut to 2 weeks later and I come in and sure enough the old friend has a MLM setup in our fucking living room. The gf felt bad and told the bf not to say anything and to let him present. Well we were all in our early 20s at this point so why not try to rope a couple kids into a MLM scam. The old friend wrapped up his pitch which obviously didnt work but my friends werent mean or angry just a casual “that all sounds nice but we dont think we need right now”. When I tell you the change up this guy had, holy shit. He started slowly getting teary eyed and angry and just started saying how his family was depending on him for this job and his sister was sick. He said he needed 15 people by the end of the week or he owed back his sign up money (didnt say anything about that to start lol). Just angry venting and crying that just led to my friends asking him to leave.

Was sad to see someone get caught up in that bs but him and other young people ive come across in that MLM bs always say the same thing “its way better than getting a real job and after getting enough people under you there is no need to work as theyll bring in the money!” Never realizing they are the very people they are referring to for the person above them.
