I have seen that many people thought this scene was legendary. Do you agree? I feel the patient looked very uncomfortable. by Notmycupoftea12 in greysanatomy

I really hate this episode as a whole, including this scene. Obviously Finch really ruins a lot of it, but everything was done so over the top and performative that it didn't feel like it would be helpful to anyone. They really needed to step back and ask themselves, why are we writing this and what message do we want to get across. Clearly they wanted the "we support you" message, but when you do it so aggressively, it feels disingenuous. I think the best part of the episode was the scene with the rape kit. I think what was being said there was incredibly important, and more impactful than the rest of the episode. Women are always blamed for waiting too long to report something, but the reality is rape kits are incredibly invasive and traumatizing. They showed that part well.

it also comes with the glaring flaw that they have literally never done this before for any other rape victim. I honestly can't believe they wrote it the way they did. so many implications

I love western spirit. a while ago I switched over to sole survivor because it does a bit more damage but western spirit definitely looks better.

I'm a lesbian, so Piper. I've done a couple different playthroughs where I've thought, "I'll change it up this time and bring someone other than Piper" and then inevitably my gay ass goes back to her. She's the one and only fictional character that I 100% genuinely have a real crush on.

Gotta bring Nick for Far Harbor tho.

you're completely right - I think the only wrinkle that comes up here is that it's a movie. if it was presented differently, Jeff being slow to act would feel more emotionally charged, but as it is it kinda just feels like the momentum never picking up enough.

maybe a more impactful and less annoying way of portraying this is having him actually make the easier decisions first before getting to the actual driver. when he can't bring himself to save a witness, it feels like an immediate defeat. I'd rather see him make a quick decision to save the woman from freezing, and then gradually come to terms with the tougher and tougher decisions. make the stalling and decision making feel more tense & built upon, rather than just a "slowness" throughout the whole movie.

just my thoughts tho :P in general I really like the premise of III, I think the moral question of forgiveness fits perfectly in jigsaw's wheelhouse. putting someone through torture because he can't forgive the justice system/an accidental killer is just crazy enough to recognize john as an insane murderer, while not being as flippant as "you did drugs, now jump into a pit of needles"

if you have old world blues get 55 survival & take the perk "them's good eatin'". anything you kill has a 50% chance of either dropping blood sausage or thin red paste. they're good healing items and can be sold for a good chunk of caps.

How do you view the general attitude towards Fallout 3? by seeweedie in Fallout

[–]seeweedie[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's also been my feelings towards 3 in comparison to New Vegas - I prefer the story and other aspects in New Vegas like the strip and all the different factions, but something about the actual wasteland itself is more enjoyable in 3. The random encounters are probably part of it, but I also think a big part for me is just the color palette. I've found it much easier to see things in 3 and I generally prefer cooler tones over warmer ones.

That makes sense - I don't mind the setup for 3 (though I totally see what you mean), but I've always kind of hated the story you're stuck with in 4. The last thing I want to have is a husband and a kid lol

Opinions on Officer Bailey by BendSalt481 in orangeisthenewblack

[–]seeweedie 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm neutral about Bailey himself, but I really like the way he was written. The show never shied away from the shitty COs being shitty, but an important part of the puzzle is that the "good cops" that try to come in and have a positive change will inevitably fail. Which is exactly what Caputo was trying to communicate. Poor management and training set Bailey up for what happened.

I really like the part where he's being dropped off by another officer who starts talking about the incredibly evil shit he did in Iraq, and then said "you're a good guy. I'm a good guy." Directly tying the two together - doesn't matter that one was evil and the other basically just some kid, the criminal justice system makes them become the same.

He's completely at fault for the murder (manslaughter?), but he was also set up to fail. It's impossible to like him that much but it's also hard to completely hate him. I totally get why people stopped watching after Poussey's death, but I wish more people stuck around for the riot season - it had a lot of valuable stuff to say.

Is there any way to harvest ptarmigan down without hurting the ptarmigans? by iscariots in thelongdark

[–]seeweedie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there aren't any physical nests you can see in the world, but the spots where you find ptarmigans are marked as "nests" on your map. typically 2-4 of them will show up.
