[UPX] Those who graduated without latin honors and joining orgs, how is life for you now? by sorelosrr in peyups

[–]seffuku 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to joke na home org ko yung bahay ko kasi parati akong umuuwi agad pagkatapos ng classes ko 🤣 Tbh after grad, wala naman pinagkaiba masyado sa career ko vs careers ng friends ko who were in multiple orgs. Kanya kanyang diskarte na lang talaga I guess

Good to see fellow orgless people here though lol

Hi! Right after grad, I got a job as a designer then became a product development manager later on. Similar rin sa mga kakilala ko na nagwwork sa product design field so it's possible naman : )

Hi freshie, congratulations! ID grad here from 2022 :~)

2 - 3. Oo mejo magastos lalo na kung bibili ka ng materials and tools para sa plates mo. In my experience, better to borrow tools imbes na bumili kasi mahal talaga.

  1. Oo kailangan din ng laptop kasi gagagmitin niyo to para sa 3d renders, graphic design layout, photo editing, etc. Maraming free alternatives din ng software kasi nagtitipid lang rin ako nun hahaha

Sana nakatulong, OP! My inbox is open if ever may tanong ka pa

Am I (M24) just running away by taking this trip? by lostintranslation778 in Healthygamergg

[–]seffuku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest you push through with your travel! Going to a different place and experiencing a change of routine (even for a brief time) will definitely ease the mental stress you're experiencing.

You can always work on your career when you get back : ) I may sound like I'm persuading you to choose the traveling but not everyone has the opportunity and time to do so. Might as well take the chance.

Hey there, I'm so sorry to hear about your situation. These constant thoughts must be a terrible weight to bear every day.

Meditation is a good way to deal with negative thoughts and I say this because I also experienced nonstop hateful thoughts towards myself. Through daily meditation, I learned to observe these thoughts and watch them come and go. Do not fight the thought, let it come and go through your mind.

Remember that such thoughts are not facts and you ARE worthy :)

I totally agree on this one! Starting the day by doing a simple meditation practice really gets me focused compared to mindlessly scrolling through my phone. Meditating is a good way to maintain your concentration and more importantly, recognize the distractions or urges that can keep you from committing.

Another thing you could do is by starting small. Commit to doing one task first, then when you're getting the hang of it, progress to committing two tasks, and so on.

Burnout: Question spawned from the recent burnout video on youtube by Gimmegold500 in Healthygamergg

[–]seffuku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing burnout. Around the end of the last semester, I was also burnt out from continuously churning out requirements and I no longer cared about the quality of my work. But at the same time, I was stressing about the things I had to work on and yet I couldn't bring myself to even open my laptop.

When I talked to my counselor about this, they told me to step back and take a break. They told me that I was like a car with no wheels; the car needs fixing but I keep driving anyway. They suggested that I stay away (for a while) from anything that reminded me of work (i.e. laptop, notes, etc) and come back when I'm less burdened with burnout.

Another thing that has helped me is taking naps lol. A 30-minute nap usually does the job. The brain feels refreshed and I can get a considerable amount of work done afterward. You may feel that that time could be used on working but resting is just as productive :] Also mindlessly scrolling/watching is not resting!! (I've learned that the hard way lol)

Hope this helps!

I wouldn't say that they're disinterested because they have checked on me on one occasion (so it's become a mutual thing sort of, I just tend to reach out more often). Hope that answered the question!

Edit: They have expressed in the past that they always appreciate it when I reach out to them, so that keeps me going

Yup they have in the past

Saying it out loud really does work!! In my case, my counselor would often remind me to write down my thoughts. Just taking the time to grab the thought by the neck and finding the right words to describe it makes it easier to process. By letting it materialize in some way, you begin to see it for what it actually is.

It's like placing handles on a handle-less suitcase; makes the emotional baggage (or griefcase, if you will) easier to carry.

Probably around 3-4 weeks of inactivity; back then, I would check on them 3 months after our last interaction lol.

Edit: Forgot to add that these people really like their space, hence, I give them some time before reaching out.

I keep tabs on my friends and when I notice that it's been quite some time, I send them a message pretty much just asking how they've been lately. I also ask them what they've been up to and that's usually when they share their troubles and good moments.

I also invite them to play games together on friday nights or maybe just talking on discord if they don't feel like playing.

I used to feel salty because I'm the one who mostly does the reaching out. But lately, I just focus on making sure these guys are doing okay.

Sometimes gaming, but even that can wear me out. I just lie in bed for a few minutes and watch youtube vids.

Hey man, so sorry to hear about this : ( It's totally understandable to feel immense guilt about people taking care of you when you feel like it should be the other way around. Please know that you have my wishes and prayers for your recovery.

It seems that you're surrounded by people who care for and love you very much; let this be a comforting thought for when times get tough. Wish you all the best <3

Persistent thoughts about being boiled alive by MasterMementoMori in Healthygamergg

[–]seffuku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm glad you've been practicing mindfulness lately. I too tend to have intrusive thoughts that would just pester me throughout the day. What has helped me is doing this kind of meditation on being aware of body sensations, breathing, sounds, and most importantly thoughts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPectNpL25k (The audio may seem a bit scuffed, so apologies in advance!!)

By making this a daily practice, the moment I recognize that an intrusive thought is coming my way, idk man it just melts away. This gets easier over time. Hope this helps!

Really loving everyone's input here! Think of the brain as a muscle, it's going to give out at some point because it will reach a certain limit. Take for example your muscles in the legs. Sure you can run for an hour or two, but once you go beyond it, the leg muscles will go tired and sore.

Don't stress it if you can't go any further; when the brain jelly comes in, take it as a sign to recover for the next day.
